I head that this year SME will not be providing Pneumatics in the KIT of Parts. Due to the fact that they were upset with FIRST, or something like that. Has anyone else heard anything like this??:ahh:

SME is the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
SMC is a pneumatic component supplier. FESTO, another supplier, is based on Long Island, and has been giving seminars about using the pneumatics in the kit.
Remote kick off sites are giving pneumatics workshops. They're in the know. They don't just make stuff up.

Ooooooo..
Someone just got their "grill challenged"
(Sorry, I love doing this, just ignore me!) :D
I would assume that the rumor is false because FIRST would have updated there site in regrads to the 9am workshop for pnuematics being held on Friday Check out the schedule (http://www.usfirst.org/robotics/2003/manworkagenda.htm)
I think that if pneumatics weren't going to be in the kit they would have removed this info from the site or at least contacted those teams attending to let them know not to go cause if they did cancel and didn't tell teams there would be some pretty ticked people wasting there time.

I know for a fact that there will be pneumatics. Take a look at this link http://www.firstcanadianregional.org/PDF/SMC%20Order%20Form.pdf and this one www.firstcanadianregional.org.

Well, I called Mr. Johnson, but I recieved his voice mail. From previous conversations I've had with him, SMC is glad to be a part of FIRST and the monetary situation isn't too bad so far as that they would need to drop. If anything, they'd just be providing less.
Besides, they want more pneumatical engineers in the field, what better way than to give kids pneumatics and have them enjoy it.
