Yep, this kit is so great and simple to build with, we are done! Check these pics and vids out. Some are of Kickoff, some are of the damage the *cough* robot *cough* did to the bins ;), and some are of our completed robot, see if you can figure out what's going on with us crazy NASA Knights!
Note: Dial-Up beware, the reason there are three sites with stuff is that each site only holds 10MB, and there was like 27.9MB total pics and everything! If you know of a free place I can get like 50MB and up, it would be much appreciated.

uhh is it just me or are a lot of the pictures repeated, so there's really only like 2 pictures and 1 vid?

Yah, all the links pointed to the same place (tried to save time with Frontpage, bad idea!) I just fixed all that, so try it again.

I have a 56k, so it took me a while to look at a few. But... from what i saw, the subject is a total lie. I mean, how much do you really have done? :)

Nu uh, look at our robot, stacking crates, knocking stacks over, it works good! There's also some Segway stuff in there too.
it seemed to only be able to only stack at the 4th/5th box level. Could the legs extend and retract more?

Dial-Up beware, the reason there are three sites with stuff is that each site only holds 10MB, and there was like 27.9MB total pics and everything!
use smaller resolution pictures. 1600x1200 is far too huge.. if you use 800x600 filesize is cut in half.. or 640x480. I've found that to be one of the best. Minimal scrolling for small res screens, still big and good quality for moderate to large screens.

Yah, but I was being lazy, and they came straight out of Dave's camera, to a CD, and then to this other CD... The gif's headachyness is just due to the fact that it's a really small amount of frames.

Funny how when I looked at the game the first thing I thought was 122 is done. That robot is the way I conviced some people on the team this year to go with a stacking robot, I hope anyway...

yeah...see that is a 2002 bot clearly, note it has no apparant way to pick up the totes, they just put one in the basket of their 2002 bot to play around with

mhmh that bot looks quite similar to last years......seemskinda shady to me . Next time ease down on the picture size. i had to 5 feet away from my monitor to view them haha...
holy crap on a stick... that "segway" is awesome... in your last vid of it i thought it might have been custom built... what did you guys use? i wanna make one... anyway, thats some puncture hole in the bin

yes, maybe at the 4th/5th bin stacked level, but can it pick up a single bin lying on the ground?

Actually, the only thing that wouldn't be used on a robot would be those wheels, though they might be legal, and it uses a PIC microchip for controlling the motor controllers.
Parts were all made out of legal materials I think (not entirely sure about the base)
Window motors power it, ones from the kit. I'll explain the rest later, maybe...

The 122 segway was a good pre-season project that
probably should be explained a bit. Our version was designed
to be as light as possible (31 lbs.) and as low in CG as possible,
(Plus cheap) There are currently three gear sets low, medium and fast. Low gear could pull a robot cart and rider no problem.
medium is easiest to ride, and fast is for hot doggin!
The gears and motor/wheel mounts are waterjetted aluminum.
The 1998/2001 window motors were selected because they are
thin and can be mounted with the lowest CG they are also a
little underpowered but you cant get everything sometimes.
The base is lightweight honeycomb aluminum sheet, the steering stalk and handlebars are PVC pipe and the battery case is Lexan
sheet. The wheels are cheap 12 inch diameter wheels with 1/2"
dia. bearings. larger Skyways would be better! (and they sponsor FIRST!) The standard robot battery at 17 lbs is the majority of the weight.
The controls are twist grip type PVC which acts on a set of Potentiometers through "O" ring contact.
The right grip is just like the throttle on a motorcycle so if you have "wheelie" experience you will feel at home. the left grip
steers the unit left or right. Once you get your balance
and spin left or right you can forget that you are turning and correct your balance with the right grip just as before. (This
feels great!) The pic chip handles the control mixing very well!
It is also set to interrupt steering in the event that you are fighting to regain your balance, which is very handy.

Ya know what I think.....one of the pics with the tub that has a puncture hole in it.....pic #15.....it kinda looks like someone put a foot thru the container.....just a hunch.....but if so who in the world would do a thing like that? :wink:
yea, but who cares if the robots already done!??:D
what about stacking bins ridiculously high, say hypothetically... 12 tall, trying to move it, and then watching it come crashing down on an unwary team member in a box... nah, feet are the last thing these bins need to worry about :p
