the team update 1 says something about "reflective tape" material. Where is this in the kit? I did not find it during inventory, nor did i find it in the manual.

is this the reflective tape on the goals? or something else?

btw, where's the paint? i thought they'd include paint this year? somehow i dont trust my kit anymore. too many things missing. 1 being our strobe light. the stuff in the red bin were found in the green, and vice versa.

WHO PACKED THESE?!?!?!??!?!??!

hmm reading on it said it'll be shipped later on? will it? or will we all be whining again about it missing in the box shipped to us later? hehe

If you really need retroreflective tape soon, like we decided that we did, order some from almost any safety equipment catalog. Your school probably has a few of them. I know FIRST has an official supplier and all, and you can buy it off them if they sell direct, but it's a lot easier to get it through a normal catalog that your maintainence department probably orders from at least once a month.

Is there any rule against coating your robot in this stuff? Its decoration! We Swear!!!

Ah silly adversaries, you will just be all the better to track. By the way I know no intentional destroying of each others robot is allowed or even nice, but can we build a shooter bot to track and shoot at silly reflective tape covored bots like yours??? I know one of the rules states that the only projectile you can have would be a soccer ball or as I like to call them; ammunition!!!

Check out update #1. It states that the tape or the ball may not be used on the robot. :p

I thought of adding reflective tape to our bot. Oh Well.

I was just going to make my shooting robot have an manual overdrive mode so that if my robot started shooting at another robot, I would be able to put it in that mode and it would start hurling the balls fast enough to decapitate that robot :p

Our robotic rat is not going to be covered in relective tape, but in stealthy flat-black tape, fabric, fur, etc.

Hey, it's decoration for the rat!
Yeah, that works.
The judges will buy it.
Sure.

Also, with 60 psi into a 5" stroke 2" bore cylinder, we'll be able to swing that 4 foot pool skimmer real fast and real hard.

I was too thinking about putting it on the player. Then I thought about these two issues:

1) It wouldn't be that hard for the human operators to aim the robot at the human player since the robot would be very close to them.

2) Would the lexan barrier reflect the laser beam at a weird angle that would prevent the robot from detecting the reflection?

Just my thoughts. Does anyone know the answer to number 2?

So that update says we can't use the tape that came in the kit, but can use it other rolls that we buy, or retroflective decals???Hmmmm?

I think that FIRST would have a hard time calling retroreflective decals "non-functioning decorations"

What about having retro-reflexive signs in the crowd?

I don't think that would work, considering the fact that the sensors lost track of the goal when it was most of the way across the field, I don't think you could get your signs close enough.
