View Full Version : Maxi Block Confusion?

While sorting thorugh the kit on Sunday with the list of parts, I couldn't figure out the different parts to the Maxi Block board. I understood that the "Maxi Block, Fuse Block, 8 Position; With 4 Wires; 1 of 4 pieces" was the actual block with the 4 10AWG's coming out of it but where are the "Maxi Block, Base" and the "Maxi Block, Insert, 8 Position"? I couldn't seem to understand that. I almost had the bottom of the first part removed but I didn't want to force it. I thought that it might be the "base" but wasn't sure... Also, has anyone found the "Maxi Block, Bolt"?

Yes the four parts came as an assembly including the bolt. I am sure there are going to be a variety of ways to connect to this assembly and I would remind everyone to be careful not to short the buss to robot chassis when mounting this to your robot.

That was so confusing... They probably should have left it as separate parts and given us some form of schematic. That way, we would have known the parts as we saw them...

Last night a member of our team figured out how to get it apart and how it works...
I'll try to get some pictures tonight at our meeting and put them up so people can look at them.

Thanks, that would be terrific.
PS: Great user name! Ben Folds Five rocks! (He's a pretty cool guy in person too!)
grrrrrrr that is annoying spending a half an hour trying to find 5 differnt pieces when they are all ready assembled
I know this is kind of off-topic, but this seemed like the best place to post it.
Does anyone know if we are allowed to cut the maxi block? As of now, we are only planning on using two 40 amp breakers and we wanted to know if we could get rid of the extra material to save space.
I searched the FIRST updates, FIRST forums, and this site and could not find anything about this.

You can modify it however you would like but be careful that you don't mess it up too much...

the breaker panels are not listed in rule c1 and so they may be modified.
I asked FIRST the question and they said no.
You cannot modify the Maxi-Breaker Block. You can cut the wires. If you do, you should cap them and wrap them with electrical tape. You cannot disassemble the Maxi-Breaker Block. FIRST shipped it as an assembly to prevent any chance of improper assembly.
