About a year ago, we had a massive post-a-thon about this. There were two threads, each several hundred long. One for guys, and one for gals.

They covered everything from pick-up lines to what different colored roses mean (and YES, different colors have different meanings) They also covered the controversial subject of guys holding the ladies door open for her.

Please, don't use 'we,' as you don't speak for everyone.

I think the world would appreciate it if you jumped right in and started participating in the many, many, many, many existing, active threads that already exist. That way, you can still play Dr. Phil, but the rest of us have fewer threads to sift through while we're looking for interesting, meaningful, informative discussion.

Why do they start so many threads about guys/dating? IMHO, there is a hug amount of curiosity regarding the opposite sex. Think of it this way...we all want to know about this or that team's robot design, so imagine that boys or girls are the secret thats hidden during the six weeks. Only boys/girl thoughts arent made public after ship date.

no one knows what the other sex is thinking and both spend so much time thinking about what the other is thinking about both waste time and don't take advantage of the time they have together. so girls, don't care about the color of the flower, it doesn't always have to be a rose guys be creative, you should only care that the person gave it to as a caring gesture. and guys we need some better pick up lines cause the ones we have now just don't work as well as they did 20 years ago when they were first used

I love getting flowers! It's always nice, partially because I just like flowers, and partially cuz it means he thought about me when i wasn't there and wanted to get me them. I don't ever want to be given flowers cuz he "should", but i love getting them. Mark came to my house with roses to ask me out. it was so sweet!
Also, flowers don't always have to be roses. Mixed flowers or something is nice, too. most girls would just like that you got them flowers, whether they be roses or not.

anywho... that's my two cents... byes!

So go out and get some and give them to her. Flowers...you don't always have to buy fancy and expensive ones....and definately not ones that are about to die. Oh, and with corsages....watch out, my date to homecoming...Pamela's (she's on 179.....which was also a FIRST date for both of us....no pun intended with robotics)...two of the flowers fell out of it but it still looked good.

flowers R pretty, I keep the dead dried roses because they look pretty too, they just don't smell as good...

Give her flowers! See dating tips in Chit-chat of this forum for obvious reasons. In regards to the girl you like, seriously, be bold, take the chance and ask her...you never know how the other person feels untill you ask! Even if she says "no"...at least you'll know how she feels and she'll know how you feel about it (relationship). Also, take her out on a date or two (don't ask her out immediately if you don't want too) and basically talk about stuff, get to know one another better...of course more time will be availiable after the robot is shipped....but 2/14 is a good day to give her flowers...and maybe even candy too.

oh, and jeff? don't immediately try to be all over her, but (i'm assuming you've known each other for a bit) do tell her you like her. it really means alot to a girl, at least, it did to me. it shocked me big time, but be prepared for that. tell her you're ok with being just friends if that's what she wants then FOLLOW THROUGH WITH IT!!!!!! you never know, if you are friends for a while, you may get a second chance to ask her out... but seriously, don't go overboard right at the beginning. ease your way into things. it can scare us if we're not as nuts about you as you are about us, but you can woo us.

but it's usually the guys I sit w/ at lunch
(6-8 for the past 2 years)
its not that I like them, just that they deserve them -
But the funnest part is seeing them go throughout the day
trying to dodge the q of who gave them the flower..hehe
and they have to carry it all day :D !

but this year i'm not sitting w/ any guys...:: pout:: :(

maybe this year i'll give them to the robotix guys...;) :p
