How do you mount it to the wood ramp?

Our team had U-shaped nails. http://www.homedepot.com/cmc_upload/HDUS/EN_US/asset/images/pii/7/5/2/7/A27257_2.JPG
They are grip-rite fasteners, Galvanized Staple. Commonly used to attach fences to wood posts.

We used a 1/16 inch think (i think) rectangle of aluminum with 2 holes in it. Then we used wood screws and screwed down the aluminum to our wood frame. Works great and it ends up being really flush with the top of the mesh.

The very highest mesh needs to run Horizontal.
We used this extremely fun Air Powered stapler gun to hold ours down. Just be careful you don't staple into the floor.

The actual field will have the mesh tack-welded to steel strips that run along the sections or the ramp.
wood planks under mesh:

Bolded = wood with strips.
Also the top's will have a steel strip welded on. The strips are then counter-sinked and screwed into place.
If you are building a practice field, staples should do the trick just fine.

I guess we need to know if you are using the metal or wood form of the ramp to know what to tell you would work. At least you now have an idea of how your team can do it.
where did you get the top of the ramp ma terial from, and what is it??
is that a full sized ramp? because we are constructing a full sized ramp at our school.

We grinded down washers into rectanges that fit inbetween the wires on the mesh, then just screwed them down...holds quite nicely.

The top surface of the ramp is white high density polyetheylene (HDPE). It can be purchased through most plastic suppliers and material suppliers. All the field details are on FIRST's website and in the rules.
How easy was it for you to find the wire mesh?
The most similar wire mesh we could find around here has the same space between the wires, but the wires are thiner and made of a weaker material. We will have to put something under it so the robot won't break it. That's bad to have a "similar' field.
