In my infinite boredom I typed up fun units and actually got websites on oddball and archaic units. Hear is what I have found for a good chuckle.:]
1 blink=.864seconds
1 shake=1 X 10^-8seconds
1 wink=3.333333333 X 10^-12seconds
1 glug=0.0022046232391147832pounds
1 chain=20.1168 meters
1 geepound(slug)=14.59390294 kg
Hear is a unit joke:
What do you call 1 kilogram of figs falling??
A fig newton.

A hogshead is measures some amount. I think it's on the inside of those black-and-white speckled notebooks. The slug is a weird named unit too.

Also, a fig newton is 1 kilogram of figs accelerating at 1 m/s/s.

There's two kinds of "karats":

Carat: measures mass. Used mostly with diamonds, etc. 1 carat=200mg

Karat: measure of purity of gold, in 1/24ths. Ie 12k=50% pure, 24k=100% pure.

Ahhh the simpsons.

The metric system is the tool of the devil! My car gets forty rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it. -- Grandpa

And its so true!!

ream=500 sheets of paper
and that's not neccesarily true, depending on the weight of the paper a ream could be more or less
Index or card stock comes 250 sheets to a ream.

For more conversions than you'll ever need, download this conversion program (http://www.aasd.k12.wi.us/tesla/documents/convert.exe). Especially handy if you're doing the BOM for your team! :D

Units resemble sports officials: the only time you really pay attention to them is when something stupid happens.---Steve Mirsky in Scientific American, August 2000, p. 96. Heheh :D
