Team 852 is looking at the prospect of building a second robot to do some testing after the ship date. We would like to know how we are able to purchase additional Bosch Van Door motors and the Globe motors so that we are able to create our second robot. Are we going to have to buy a whole Van Door assembly to get the motor, or can we get additional motors from FIRST? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can't just buy some motors from MSC, and stick them on your robot.

You're limited to the motors the come in the kit (save the Atwood from last year, I believe), and you're also limited to the number of motors of any given type that come in the kit. You cannot, for instance, have 3 Atwood motors on your robot, nor can you have 3 2003 drill motors on your robot, as the kit only includes 2.

Back to the original question, if you're going to be practicing with this robot, it doesn't have to be exact, but exact is always better. As long as the motor is the exact same (except in the case of the Atwood, as I understand it), it's legal on the official robot, no matter where you got it.

I couldn't find an official page for Globe, but it's late, and I'm not really ready to go on a huge hunting expedition.

www.boschtools.com is the official Bosch website.

In his thread (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16141) about buying new drill motors, Andy Baker mentioned 908-769-8208 as being the phone number for Skil-Bosch Power Tool, in New Jersey.

our team had a problem with our motors so we had to go to a local hardware store and purchase one with the same specs and design. Your best bet would be to go to Lowes or a hardware store and purchase one.
