Hey Erin Got some good news and some bad news
through the greatness of how vBulletin works
WE can both be the 1000th post.
Look at the attachment. It clearly says you were the 1000th post yet I officially posted 1000th. In any case we're both 1000th. So Happy 1000th. Post.
If you wanna know how that happened just talk to Brandon ;-)

...When pictures of robots as well as team photos out number the amount of pictures of family on your walls or in your house.

-you lose a girlfriend, because u need to work on the robot
- you skip your midterms just to work on the robot
- your out of school for 2 weeks, becasue you back is so bad u cant walk, and you still attand most of the meetings
- your school kicks you out, by cutting power, and u think of trying to work in the dark with cordless tools
- u have two cars, and they both die, and you think of used extra robot parts to fix them (87 saab 900, front tire was ripped off, was thinking of useing pnumatics and ducttape to fix it. 94 sentra brakes fail and was thinking of using more pnumatcis to fix it)
-the only reason you go to school somedays, is just to work on the bot
- can down more than 2 pizza's in 30 mins
-are willing to drive 20+ hours, just to see your team at nationals(i hoping that we can go this year team 195, i need a nice drive)
When you're out bowling with some of your teammates and you don't see peoples scores you see team numbers and then match the numbers with the team names. Akuu knows what I'm talking about.

..when it's sunday, and you prepare to take a shower, then sit down to browse Chief Delphi quickly.. two hours pass and then you realize how long you've been there.. then you post about it in the "You know you're addicted to FIRST when..." thread.
You know you're addicted to FIRST when:
1. You fix things that just arent broken
2. You think a small bit of reprograming will fix your toasters autonomous mode
3. You lose sleep over match strategy
4. You know everything will be fine once the ball pops. --> http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pictures.php?action=single&picid=7040
...you see that picture of the two robots pressing against the yellow bot and are jealous you don't have such a cool picture with your robot.
...you get upset when other subteams meet and don't tell you because you could have been there filming it, darn it! What if something cool happened?
...you've messed up your back and you're on medicine for it and you really shouldn't be doing anything yet you go to your meeting anyway and film, even though you don't want to and it hurts.

...when after winning the regional you kneel down in front of the team your mentoring crying b/c the HS you came from (and still partially part of it) went to took 1st. place 2 times in a row at the same regional
...for the first time this season your team doesn't have a meeting after competition and it throws you completely off balance (Not that you don't need the time to do that homework that you didn't do over the weekend that's do on Monday)
...due to said unbalance you are awake even though you still could be sleeping for another hour and half before work.

...you purposely try and park at your team number when driving to competitions and parking in a parking garage. It comes in handy when trying to remember where you parked.
...crossing bridges becomes fun since you crossed atleast two trying to get home from the philly regional and you only needed to cross one (Did I say I get lost easily?) and then had to call a mentor to unlose you. The sad thing...they actually expected you to. Eep.

...you actually stand outside the school and wait to see if the mentor will be 5 minutes early or late to work.
...you force the mentor to stay in the school so that you can finish putting together robot parts.
...when you go out and buy learning the internet book for dummies for your parents so that you can email them with updates every 1hr describing robot progress. and what not
...when even after graduating HS you still get rides home from your mentors b/c you go up to the school and help them out with robotics and you end up needing that ride home. Not to mention the fact that it still amazes you that they remembered where you live. :-)

You feel like an outsider when you go on Robotics Trips with new team members on ure old team.
~When bowling, as my score progresses, I see team numbers (and think of their names) rather than the number of pins I've knocked down. It's always a special occassion when 121 arises :D .
It's even worse when you have several team members going bowling. Then you can really get alot of team name out of your scores.
When you have carried some part of your teams robot around school one more than one occasion.
When you have taken an old team robot for a joy ride around your classroom and/or school.

Extreme case: you stop doing homework after Jan 8
... when extreme case becomes going to school just to work on the robot, and you skip every class to do so ...
yeah, i guess so. I never had to do that stuff, i was always pretty busy, but i just programmed at home.
-if someone asks you when new years is, istead of saying, "a week after christmas" you say, "a week before kickoff"
-you read this whole thread
ok. i'm really scared because i can relate to about 90% of those.
- parents understanding <-- never gonna happen
- 45 miles to go work on the bot <-- i would but the shops alot closer than that
- Miss 3 days of school with 103+ fever, yet only half of one robotics meeting.
- Have holes and saw marks in your furniture for lack of a better workplace.
- give yourself a nosebleed due to programming for to long at one time (yes i did this my rookie year)
- Write the majority of your college/scholarship essays about your experience in FIRST (i did this... and it worked. :))
-First thing you do when waking up is to check for any new information on chiefdelphi or FIRST's websight
I agree with U, I can relate. PLUS I AGREE WITH U GOD BLESS THE U.S.ofA. (I AM A FIRE EXPLORER IN NEW HAMPSHIRE) :)

I wish they'd do that for me.
Then, of course, I would skip school entirely the week I got all of that work to get it all done and skip school the next seven weeks to work on the robot.

I can TOTALLY relate to that... One of our mentors is constantly telling us to check Chief Delphi for blah blah blah.... The scary thing is, I actually checked once and now I'm hooked... But that's not necessarily a BAD thing..

You know your addicted to FIRST when:
You steal your cousins "Wacky Wigglers" Gear block set and play with it when your bored because it's in the shape of gears.
When you give someone a 10 minute lecture on what a prototype is when they ask, "What's a prototype?"
You jump up in the middle of a lecture in chem yelling, "Eureka" because you finally found an idea that would work.
You have actually READ this far into this thread

When do you know that you're addicted to FIRST?
-- When you feel nostalgic after not participating in one season of FIRST
-- When you sit down to your statics or dynamics or thermo or fluids homework realizing that the one and only reason you're sitting there for hours doing one problem instead of something easier and/or non-engineering related is FIRST. Thank you FIRST!
- When the janitors are your best friend and ask "did you hurt your self again already?" or call you "curls"
-when you show up to school so you can go to robotics after
-when you make it to page 80somthing on a chief delphi thread
-when you reach in your pocket for lunch money and find a 7/16 wrench instead
