Can we shorten the PWM cables?

we thought about doing it...maybe we will if we get motivated and have some extra time...but we figured that even though we have a TON of slack it wasn't super important.

Our team did this last year and removing parts of the wire did not significantly change the weight since we needed to resolder the wires and put heatshrink around it. It also took a lot of time. I believe you can buy a tool to put new ends onto the wire if you so desire.
