Anyone planning on going to Rose-Hulman (http://www.rose-hulman.edu) ?

It's a great place to learn engineering - (small classes, great teachers, beautiful campus), but a bit on the pricey side. (that's called an understatement). I've basically got a ten year mortgage on my education. But hey! At least they can't reposses it!

While I'm not a senior I am looking to go to Florida Institue of Technology. It sounds good from what ive heard and they set up working with NASA KSC due to the proximity.

Hey! I've been accepted there :) their summer program (Operation Catapult) was great and that got me hooked. I might end up at Virginia Tech, or at WPI...depending on scholarships.
Fortunately, my parents have told me that more than likely, I'll be going to Rose next year - which would be great!

Florida Institute of Technology is a really cool school, it has a beautiful campus, big dorms, small classes, and excited professors, but there is NOTHING to do aroudn there except go to the beach. :( I need more excitement! BTW, how do all you people already know where you are going!?1?1 I got into schools, and applyed to schools, but no decision has been made yet, although, I must say, if I get alot of money at WPI, Northeastern or Clarkson thats where I'll prolly be headed

...it's also one of the few schools whose application doesn't require an essay :)

<shameless plug>

If youre not interested in an engineering school, dont despair!!!

I am a technophile, and its the reason why I like FIRST...and after 3 years on a team, I left rather than an intense desire to be a part of the engineering field, I left with a desire to go into business/entrepreneurship....and infuse as much of the technology field into what I do as possible.

The point of that post? Like business? come to Babson College (http://www.babson.edu) and become the 2nd FIRST-er on campus (and keep me company!)

And if you want to go into engineering, Olin College (http://www.olin.edu) is a real purty school, even though it's still not built yet. And you'd only be across the parking lot!!!

Ok, Im done for now.

~Tom Fairchild~, who'd personally love that one year Georgia Tech FIRST scholarship.....

LoL, excited to meet another jacket? Let's go through your questions.

1) No, haven't been accepted yet, but I'm counting on it (its the only school I applied to!) and aren't real worried about it.

2) I already sent out an e-mail to GA Tech's team, #608. Seems like a fun group. From what I saw on their website, they do a bunch of other competitions as well as FIRST.

3) Nope, didn't get the President's Scholarship myself, but my best friend Brent made the first cut. He's still in the process of finding out if he got the full thing.

4) I live in southeast VA in a small town called Poquoson. Its near Hampton, Norfolk, VA Beach, that area.

5) Only other FIRSTer I know of going to GT is my friend Brent, previously mentioned.

So what's your story? Are you going down (or in your case up) there too?

~Tom Fairchild~

I'm on team #93 from Appleton, Wisconsin. From our team, everyone and their grandma go to Michigan Tech. (O.K....not everyone...) I don't want to go into engineering either (like Jessica). I want to go into Advertising, but I have still found my place on the team. I do a lot of stuff for fundraising, getting our team name out into the community, Chairman's, all that good stuff.

1) As of yet, the only 2 schools I ve applied to are UF and GT

2) SEND ME THEIR EMAIL ADDRESS!! PLEASE (gt team)

3) WOW!! Is your friend like perfect or somethin? Cause this year they were REALLY tough

4) I'm in Miami... Florida NOT ohio

5) I know this other guy that might go to GT but hes not really in FIRST- hes never there. And GT is his safe home incase. so whatever

I'm one of the college mentors on the Georgia Tech FIRST team. We have about 10 of us here that have done FIRST before that are involved on the team. I personally came from team #408 the RoboTicks (previously #132). We have people from the Bobcats (177), SPAM (180), Ramtech (59 i think), and many others that I can't think of so far. We started team #608 last year and they tried to go off on their own this year so we started team 832. According to Dean and the President of Tech we can expect a Regional here at Tech next year which will be very exciting. Our group is part of RoboJackets, a club here at Tech, which is involved in Dragoncon, Vacubot competitions, as well as Battlebots. Our goal in the FIRST group is to get as many teams in the Atlanta area as we can. WE would love to get more help. Feel free to email me at gte936m@prism.gatech.edu. I look forward to hearing from you and answering any question (about Tech or our FIRST team). Don't forget to come visit us at KSC and Nats.

Pamela

FIT is offering a FIRST scholarship which is one of the main reasons I applied :) . They were founded by NASA and is located on Florida's Space Coast, a pretty nice area. It has really nice flight programs and areospace programs because of its location, no girls soccer though :( blah...

Personally, if one more person asks me if I'm going to be an engineer I'm going to hit them, sure my 3 years of FIRST was great, but i cant make a life of it, so its zoology at the University of Oklahoma for me thanks

Glad we finally managed to get someone to come here. ;) And, yes, we still do have a FIRST team....

CU right here.

I recently got into Northeastern U here in Boston but its my safety school, but if I get that full scholarship I'll definately go to NU. lol but of course there are alot of u FIRSTers applying for that scholarship.
But my top choices are Cornell U and Columbia U, luckily both have FIRST teams. Though, they are kind of reach schools, I'm hoping to attend Holy Cross, which doesn't have a team yet, or possibly WPI, Fordham or Syracuse U. So when the WPI scholarship comes around, vote for Team 419, I need the money!! hehe

I've been getting a lot of stuff from Northeastern U, they sent me some engineering stuff for women and everything. I would go there but I don't really want to go out of state.. too much money.. I know I know.. scholarships.. but like hymnson says.. everyone's going for that scholarship.. :-D Well I still like UCF! :-D
