in the robot checklist to pass inspection, it says that 'pressure switch cannot be wired in series with the pump. it must go through a spike relay"
does this mean that pressure switch with the digital input has to go through a spike? that makes no sense... is this a just bad wording?

What that means is that the pressure switch cannot be directly switching power to the pump. You should hook the pressure switch up to a digital input on the RC and have your RC code switch a spike on or off at the appropriate time based on that digital input. They meant the pump must go through a spike, not the pressure switch.

I guess our rules guy screwed the goat on this one..
Nobody ever said anything about the switch being wired to the r/c to me.. But having looked up the rule, well, grr.. Our robot shall not pass inspection!

Do you have your pressure switch wired in series with the pump? If so that's definitely something you need to fix as I don't think the pressure switch is rated for that much current. It shouldn't be too hard to do, but it will require a software change. I'm sure someone at your first regional would be willing to help you straighten it out on that Thursday if you have any problems with it.
