I am in the process of creating a Competition Standard Operating Procedure for our team to use as a guide for competing. Any suggestions for the structure of such a document? I'm going to study my work SOP to get some ideas.

Team 540 SOP:

About 40-50 people show up Thurs. and Fri.

35-45 of those people run around, get in the way, and panic if the robot breaks

5-10 of those people fix the robot, scout, tweak, etc.

We all go to Hardees or Subway for Lunch

10-15 people show up Saturday

Much calmer in the pits

Go to Hardees or Subway with Tucker

Pack up, get back to school, realize we are missing most of our tools

(Repeat at Nationals)

Start getting ready for next year

Hope this helps

What kind of SOP are you trying to make? Is it for everything your team is doing at the regional, or for on-the-field strategy, or what?

We send our drive team down to our regional a day earlier than the rest of the team. This way, the robot can be unpacked and worked on without the entire team getting in the way. When the rest of the team gets there, we assign teams for people to scout. Then some people just fix the bot.

SOP.... I have bad memories of those three letters. Anybody who's worked at Best Buy knows what I'm talking about! :]

Hmm...is there something I should know about them? I'm going to be applying for a job there...well...in one of their warehouses :P (Woops...I dented a box for a 70" Plasma tv...guess I'll just have to get rid of it *throws it in truck*)

All I can do is laugh... However, remember the fun meetings watching the Best Buy guy...... what was his name?
