View Full Version : IRI Music 2003

Last year, due greatly to David Kelly the music at IRI was a great success. This year David Kelly and I are working to make it better and more extensive, but we need help with music for the awards. Although the music for the awards was some what good (and a little creative at the same time), the list was made in the last 10 minutes while we sat there. So, this is your chance. What songs are played during the awards ceremony and which ones are your favorite?
Please help make the music at IRI better this year
Here's what I have:
Peter Gabriel - Big Time
Smash Mouth - All Star
Phil Collins - Dance Into The Light
Beatles - "With a little help from my friends" song
U2 - Beautiful Day

Ya... I actually had this posted under that thread for awhile, but I decided to move it to a new thread because I felt that the Thanks Forum wasn't the right place for it. I'm actually one of the ones that helped pick out most of the awards music last year, but we are looking for the actual songs that FIRST plays. I was just hoping someone would read this and either remember a song or go look at any video they have of the awards. Help is still appreciated. :D

Clark and i already discussed whether to make a new thead or contune that one. We came to the conclusion that because that was about the 2002 IRI and it was about thanking me for the music, a new thread was needed. Thanks for your observations though :] Help us!

I have a challenge for you guys... this may be tough to get.
I wanna hear the song that Ebenezer Scrooge sings at the end of the old black and white movie "A Christmas Carol" (from the Dickens book, of course).
I don't know the name of the song, but it goes...
"thank you very much
thank you very much
that's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done _ for _ me"
.....
This is the one where he is singing as he is dancing down the street, being nice to everyone.
So there ya go.
Andy B.

Ok Andy...
I'll take you up on this challenge. I'm downloading the awards movie from the Midwest Regional too for more songs. I'll even try to have it by Wednesday.
:)
Edit: My guess is that it's probably "28. Different Side to Scrooge" I'm at school now, but when I get home I'll download it and see. <---hard song to find :(
Edit 2: I've added 3 more songs to the list.
Eric Clapton - It's in the way that you use it
Bachman Turner Overdrive - You Aint' Seen Nothing Yet
Leslie Carter - Like Wow

I second that. Whenever I think of songs that got us all pumped up at our high school football games they were AC/DC songs like "shook me all night long" and "back in black" and then they always played bon jovi's it's my life too (I think they played that during the LA awards ceremony).
Anyway, goodluck, I already made my contribution by finding the name of the "o o o o" techno song.

Thats an excellent "In between Match" song. Certain songs sound good as match songs, but some just have something about them that make perfect songs to play while the field is being reset. Heh I guess you just have to have an ear for music

Oh I agree. I was just suggesting songs for the event in general, not necessarily for events or awards. If 691 was going to IRI we would love to hear that song being played before we came on because of our team colors...or burn baby burn would work too. Then again...if we were coming to IRI, I think I would also be busy taking care of some business (translate: beating you up dj)
Josh Hambright
23-04-2003, 09:16
If we are gonna start requesting songs that apply to our team...
Can we get the quad city DJ's "ride the train" like before every match with 461 in it:) or after it or just play it alot... its our unofficial anthem.
Jeff Waegelin
23-04-2003, 10:32
Well, if we're requesting team-specific songs, ours would have to be "Bad Boys"
Clark Gilbert
23-04-2003, 12:03
Within the next few days I'll post a copy of a few playlists that will be used for IRI. From there it will allow people to look at them and request songs they dont see. July 18/19 is still a long way away, so keep in mind that we have plenty of time. :D

Get some Ultimate Fakebook. Underplayed awesome band.
I classify them as upbeat punkishness, most of their songs could be a great pair to a match.

Bliss
Catch the Beat
Little Apple Girl

When I'm With You I'm OK [good for a "best alliance" type award :)]
Other than UFB, my band/song suggestions:
The classics:
Vanilla Ice - Ice, Ice, Baby
Tommy Tutone - 867-5309
The Who - My Generation
Styx - Renegade (or Mr. Roboto)
Steve Miller Band - Jungle Love
