Dear Rural Support family and friends:
Team 103 would like to thank each and every one of the 41 teams and three agencies who have come together to support FIRST Robotics in remote locations across the United States and abroad.
While we all are taking some time to catch our breath and reflect on the 2003 season, Cybersonics Technology Team 103 would like to share the vision for the future of the rural support network through three goals we have set for the 2004 year:
Goal 1: Double in size. We need at least 41 more teams to join as mentors, seek help through the network, or both. If there is a neighboring team or friend of yours out there who can lend a hand or who is in need of help, have them visit the rural support website at http://www.cybersonics.org/cybersonics/rural/index.htm and contact us at cybersonics@cybersonics.org to join or seek help.
Goal 2: Fill the US map and help put at least one team in every US State. 2004 will be the year EVERY state is in FIRST. As of today, the FIRST database shows no registered teams in Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, or Idaho. Help us contact school districts, goverment agencies, departments of education, and potential sponsors in these locations. We also need to be especially aware of states with only one team in these trying times as they very easily could fall by the wayside if misfortune comes their way. These states include, but aren't limited to, Rhode Island, Louisiana, and Minnesota. The message is simple, "If we can do it, so can you!"
Goal 3: Expand the downloads section of the website in all areas. Right now travel and fundraising are the only two areas touched on at http://www.cybersonics.org/cybersonics/rural/downloads.asp
We will be adding more files in many areas, and if your team has a file to share we would like to add it for download. Contact us at cybersonics@cybersonics.org
With everyone's help we can ensure a lasting and meaningful experience for students across all areas of the US and other countries as well. 2003 has been a year that has proven to us that hard work does pay off and the power of teamwork is the greatest force of all. Take a much deserved rest now, and when you're ready, FIRST Interactive Rural SupporT is ready for your renewed commitment. We look forward to hearing from you all soon.
Sincerely,
Advisors Dave Beck, Cathy Beck, Rich Kressly
