Need some input as to dates for CDI this year. Please note we have restrictions based upon the availability of the gym.
Please vote in the poll so we may get a flavor for what teams would like.
Also, if you would like to added to the mailing for the entry form please e-mail me at: mmartus@chiefdelphi.com
Use your team number, name and city please.
I just think that it's sort of weird that CDI is even being proposed for a holiday weekend. With so many families who travel out of town, as well as engineers and college students who don't get much time off... I'd hope that it wouldn't be on a holiday weekend.
I'll admit that I'm a bit biased, but I know that as more and more college sponsored teams are being formed, this would essentially force college advisors to either not go home during the holiday (bad) or miss the competition (bad).
There's a lot of weekends to choose from, I hope that those who make the choice for the competition are able to understand the dilemma that certain advisors would be placed in, if CDI was during Thanksgiving weekend...
On weather it should be a 1 or 2 day event, I feel that 1 day is quite sufficient to get a full experience of an off-season competition. Why make students miss school if they don't need to ?
Just my two cents!

As with all things there are choices. Here are some of our challenges:
OCCRA - Championship - held in November usually the third Saturday
OCCRA - all the month of Oct/Nov
OCCRA - Womens Tournament - Held 1st Saturday in December
FFL - tournaments all thru Nov. With Championship 1st sat. in Dec.
Gym usage - after Thanksgiving Basketball rules
Getting students out of school on Friday to travel from our teams out of state
We really would like the Fri/Sat before Thanksgiving. Some teams have said it is a problem getting stuents out of school to travel.

One short rebuttal... the 2-day competition was proposed because for CDI, the teams have to build the robots on-site in around 6 or 7 hours. While that can be done in one day, that and competition in one day would be very hard to squeeze in.
And as a local college student, I would prefer having it on the holiday when I am home and free, than right before a break. Just my personal preference; I know some would disagree.

Has a decision been reached on the CDI date, yet?
