due to the amazing amount of interest in the august first feature release, and due to the fact that you people won't quit tormenting us with instant messenger ;), we have decided to let you all ask ONE QUESTION, and we will answer them with yes, no, or maybe. Have fun!
Not sure how you'd answer this question with yes, no, or maybe, but:
What's being released?
Amanda Aldridge
28-07-2003, 23:47

29-07-2003, 00:15

It will happen the second it officially becomes Friday, EDT. The server controls when it starts.

I know that something's going to happen on the CD website. Is UFH (whatever it is) going to affect other FIRST websites (especially USFIRST.org (www.usfirst.org)) as well as CD?
Brandon Martus

Maybe.

Will CD be able to send out orders of Krispy Kream as a bribing measure to Dave Lavery so he can tell us the play early?

Do those "in the know" reserve the right to provide false/misleading/etc. answers to any questions asked?
(Of course, how can i know 100% if the answer given to this is accurate?)

Nate, you are absolutely correct!
How can we trust anything that has been posted here?
I guess the only sure way of finding out what is coming is to... *gasp* wait and find out!!!
Seriously guys, you can't wait 3 days?
Technically, it'll be midnight on Thursday, so you only need to wait 2 days and 1 minute.
Josh Hambright

We have never guarenteed any accuracy to our information...all that was said was that questions would be answered:)
But as far as i know nothing in this thread has been inaccurate..

we are attempting to be as truthful as possible...and so far, it has been easy.

I don't even pay attention to the forum anymore, and suddenly people IM me "what's happening on Aug 1st?". Then I got links to a thread with 1's and 0's... Then this page.
If whatever is supposed to be a secret, it must be a poorly guarded secret. I would go as far as to say the keepers of the secret have every intention to get as much attention as they can before revealing it. Probably one of the best PR methods you can use, just like Segway.
Anyway, have fun with this :). Great thing to bring some activities to the CD forum. Just be glad you have secrets you can tell people ;).
Now back to working Cal Games stuff... -_-!

I got the University of Michigan homepage... kinda funny to me, actually. Definitely misleading, I'd say.
And about the misleading answers, it's like one of those math problems. If five people are answering, and they can answer wrong, how do you know what is correct...?

Oh -- I have a small request.
Please don't kill the server on Thursday night. :)
It will come on EXACTLY at 12-Midnight.. no earlier, no later. So wait until midnight to look. There is no need to refresh like crazy for 20 minutes prior. You won't see anything.
Thanks,
Brandon

If you kill the server -- the August 1st thing won't happen on time.
If the server does die -- all of us 'in the know' have agreed to not tell anybody, and you will all just suffer. So, being excited as you all are, it is in your best interest to not kill the server. :D

So, less than 10 hours until the debut of the Chief Delphi Dating Service, eh?
That's been my guess for the last couple of days and nothing that's been posted has lead me to believe otherwise.

Here are some easy-to-follow instructions on how to see the new feature at midnight tonight. (EDT)
Go to the portal at 11:59:00 PM EDT.
Count to 61.
Hit refresh once. Twice if you were too excited and counted too fast, or something.
Enjoy.
The forums will be disabled from approximately 11:50pm to 11:59:59pm. I have to prepare a file or two.
Thanks!

Once you see the new feature, you won't be refreshing like mad using it or anything. Few clicks here & there. The refresh fest will be the craziness before it is revealed.

I figure.. that some people might count to 61.. some 63 and some others 65 even..
I figure the server might get a little slow, and some people won't like the long load so they will click refresh a couple more times, lol.. this is saying that 1000's of people show up :-)
But they won't lol most will wait until tom. Is my guess.. well I guess 12:00 is tom. hrmm :-(
either way I have to see it tonight cuz I have a plain to catch at 5
