View Full Version : Reguarding music...
For those of you who were also wondering about using copywritten music and don't look on FCRtech2002....
They are allowing copywritten music to be used in entries without having a written consent of the label, as long as you acknowledge the band and everything. So, you can use it, you just have to cite it. That lifts a big brick off my shoulders. I think I'll still write some of the music for the video....
Where exactly does it say we can use copyrighted music with acknoledgement? It's a great thing, but because my school is paranoid about everything, I'd probably have to show the teachers in charge this for them to go with it.
I e-mailed FRCtech and well, they're the officials on things like that. All you have to make sure is to cite the proper musicians and labels and things like that.
Hmm, do you have a copy of that e-mail lying around somewhere?
Sure do:
Q: Using music in the Chairman's award, does it all have to be written
and performed for the award or have a written consent from the label?
Meaning, do we need
to get written consent to use any copywritted musc in
the award for eligability?
Thanks a bunch,
Adam Thompson
A: Adam, great question, thanks for asking. In the spirit of gracious
professionalism, any/all music used in a video submission should be
"acknowledged" in the end credits---
ie: "Burning Down The House" by Talking Heads
(or maybe more appropriately, "You Gotta Fight For Your Right to
Party" by Beastie Boys)
You don't need to get consent from the music label as long as
you provide this acknowledgement/credit.
