Today's question is brought to you by the letter- uh, i mean today's question is brought to you by Nick Seidl. Copied and pasted from his PM: Along with Gordy Howe, who only played one game as a promotion, I am the only former Detroit Red Wing who has also played for the Detroit Vipers of the now defunct IHL. Nick is obviously inelligible for this answer, but it's worth 600 to anyone else.

Jason Woolley is a current member of the Detroit Red Wings. Never having played for them before this current stint with the team, he is not a former Detroit Red Wings player. Therefore, he is not the correct answer.

Heh, wrong Red Wings...Maurice played for the Adirondack Red Wings of the AHL.
Now for the real answer:
Who is Daniel Shank?

Not the answer I was given. I got Kevin Hodgson.
<cut & paste>Background: This backup goalie, who used to fill in behind Chris Osgood before the Norm Maracle era, was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was then sent to their IHL affiliate, the Vipers, where he only played a few games before retiring.</cut & paste>
I'll look into it for you though.
<edit>Turns out that D.J. is right.</edit>
