As anyone who has used iTunes can tell you, it kicks WinAmps $@#$@#$@#. Now it's out for windows, along with the Music Store!

That's what I thought when I looked, too. Where did you see this, Joseph?

Er.. in the center, right under "Download now"... "For Mac and Windows."
The site's changed since when I first looked at it and just now.
Downloading for Windows wasn't available.

Yes... scary. Bow TO ME!!!! :ahh:
Anyway, I read the live transcript from today's Apple Music Event and posted this up here before the main page was updated. They said that iTunes for Windows will come out today.

Reminds me of winamp 3, as far as resource usage goes.
I'm liking it, though.
Oh, and no there wont be a listen-to plugin for a while (they have yet to release an SDK).

...and installed it...seems to be a nice player, and the price is good for buying tracks...I just have to wait until the bank and Paypal get my account straightened out to take care of the new account signup...

I must admit this is a pretty good program. I'll use it for my main music player for awhile, but I'll never buy music with it. There are 2 beefs I have with the program...
1.) Why must the download be 19mb?!!?! It's basic...real basic.... People like DJ cant download it in less than 1 min.
2.) Where is the "next"/"previous" song button on the mini mode?!?! Pressing Ctrl+Right get's annoying when I don't want to listen to a whole song.
Overall a good program.
iTunes is cool, but I'll be stickin with WinAmp, mainly cause it's integrated into my windows skin. And no, this isn't a 1-minute download. Durned thing took nearly five minutes!
Removed various @'s, #'s, and $'s.
Oh, here's a direct link (http://akamaidownload.apple.com/530x3824/binaries/iTunesSetup.exe) to the download.

Yeah, dled it after I got back from school at 5pm. It's very nice and I think the main advantage is the music store. The ui is laggy and needs to be optimized more for windows graphics. And an SDK would definitely be nice.

OK, how about Linux?
I mean, sure, I could run itunes in WINE, but isn't Macintosh OS 10 based on FreeBSD??
And isn't that based on UNIX??
and isn't Linux also based on UNIX??
Will linux run the mac version?
lets find out!

It won't run natively, but if you got your hands on the source it's fairly plausible to port it over with minimal modification...in comparison to porting stuff like a game to Linux...which has been done.

Let me know if you get it running in wine. I had a co-worker try the other day, and couldn't get it working..
