Let's start posting pictures guys! I'm curious to see what other have come up with.

Here's a pic of the motor mounts for the drill motors! Notice the heatsync :).

-anton

ps. i wonder if the chiapuas want heatsyncs too :)

Kris Verdeyen

Is the heatsink attached to the plastic part? It might not do much good if it is. Otherwise- cool machining.

Anton Abaya
01-02-2002, 15:56
they're really just motor mounts. But we added the "wings" on the drill motors. I do not believe the plastic gets warm, so I am unsure what you are referring to. In any case, thanks! The wings do look cool. :)

-anton

ps. EVERYONE POST SOME TEASERS!

Ok - a second look reveals that I'm a schmuck who needs to look better at the pics before opening my big mouth. :)

I see what's up now - you have two pieces, one grabs the motor, the other holds the gearbox. I thought you had put a sink on the gearbox, which would seem quite useless.

I'm going to ask that if you are going to put images on this thread, link from an outside source, or upload to the image gallery. Doing this will keep the forum backup downtime smaller.

The forum backup could potentially take quite a long time if there are tons of unnecessary attachments (which are stored in the database).

So --

link from an outside source (your own website, etc) - OR - upload to the image gallery, and then link from then.

If you can't do those, then attach to the post ...

Thanks :)

(im just avoiding a thread with 45 omages attached to it ..)

I hoped to get pictures on our webpage www.tahsroboticsteam.org. Our server will not let us log on for some reason. But anyway we hope to have some posted soon. I have 2 pics posted of this years bot posted in the 2002 Robot section though.

I also got a pic of me that was taken today.

Not to be off topic, but Linux works great for web serving. There is a program that will allow you to login to a locked out NT server. Unfortunately my brain is in robot mode now, and not PC TEch mode, do a quick search on google, and you'll find it.

We've had nothing but success hosting our little site:
http://wihs.zapto.org/first/

Speaking of which, you can see our END OF WEEK 3 Pics on the photographs page. We've progressed since then, but we're only going to allow 1 week old pics until the crate date. ;^P

We post a picture, amazingly we have nearly the same wheels!! I saw that design on the wonderful Wildstang last year. We tried the Delrin O-rings first but that lasted only a total of 7 minutes until the feild was littered with o-rings. We then went to Aluminum like yours and then put a knurl pattern on it. Now we are on the edge of traction, carpet damage.

OK Here is a spy phot of 1/4 of the Pegasus 4.0 Drive System
Interchangeable with 1 nut and bolt. It is a complete subsystem that we actually have had time to make spares of. All spur gears, all welded(except the brass gear its pinned and green loctited)
Knurled aluminum rollers

The goal and ball grabbers are still undercover till next week

Just food for thought: Can your robot grab a goal......

.....that's spinning

Hmmm hope I didn't give away too much

Where in the world did you get the wheels in the picture???

Are they from Skyway??
Or are they from Small parts??
???

WernerNYK
05-02-2002, 21:50
heheh.....:D

those are old Power Wheels wheels...we had an old "jeep" sitting around b/c we wanted to use the motors one day...well, we used them there....that was just our prototype/practice robot....we got that thing built in a day during our first week in order to test and familiarize ourselves with everything (We are a rookie team, after all  )

Going back to topic, I think it's great that people start posting pictures. However, please post them in the gallery section of this forum, and put them in the 2002 robots gallery.

It's the middle of 5th week already, and most people are working hard to finish their robots. So you won't have to worry about ideas being stolen or whatever.

Maybe some rookie or beginners team will benefit from looking at the pictures, and learn something about building robust robots, and how a robot is designed.

Post more!
If I had a camera I would post all of my pictures.
Don't hold back now, it's not like anybody is going to copy your ideas this late in the game.

How about a picture of our Custom PCA. We designed, etched (all by ourselves!) and in the picture in the process of populating it. And so far... IT Works!

(Hope this is the right size, I didn't want it to take forever to display.)

Best Wishes

I have ALWAYS looked forward to see a good robot from the Gila monsters.... Now I am going to stop looking because I think this "robot" of yours will be the best you will ever build. In the future years, you won't have to modify your design anymore... It WILL work for all the competition.

I look forward to "inspect" your robot in LA. Have your bill of material ready. ;) ;) ;)
