Brandon, iTunes now has HTML code to add to a page header so when someone posts an iTunes link on the page, it will open up iTunes, and if they don't have it, it will direct them to the apple site.

Could we possably add it? Here is the code....

<Object classID="CLSID:D719897A-B07A-4C0C-AEA9-9B663A28DFCB" width="1" height="1" id="iTunesDetector" codeBase="http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/detection/ITDetector.cab"></Object>

<Script language="Javascript" type="Text/Javascript" src="http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/detection/itmsCheck.js"></Script>

Remeber the "What are you listening to now" thread, or other possable future uses on CD, or even listen-to.com . I also just want Brandon to know it's out there.

Does it link you to information on the song, or to the song in iTMS? (the iTunes music store, for those of you who don't know the acronym)

Remember, not all (or probably even many of us) of us, pay attention to that kind of stuff.

WHAT!?!?!? YOU DON'T DEVOTE YOUR LIFE TO APPLE!?!?!?!? ;) :p

The header is used so when the person clicks on the link it opens in iTunes. If the header is left out, it won't work properly. So when you post an iTMS link (which you can get here (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSearch.woa/wa/itmsLinkMaker)) the song by opening it though iTMS. If the user dosn't have iTunes, then they will be directed to the Apple site. My site has it added, but I need to tweek it (I added the 'Download iTunes' myself). My site is at playingfire.blogspot.com

It would open iTunes and then open the song up.

I find this kind of pointless, because I think a small number of users here actually use Macs (nothing wrong with them, they're just not as popular), and I don't know how many will use the Windows version of iTunes.

Then there's always the few Linux guys, and I think the odd Linux girl... :p

listen-to already has iTunes links. (for a few months, actually) As long as you form the URL right, you don't need the headers, from what I've found. I haven't tried on computers without iTunes though.

If someone without iTunes wants to check it out, go to listen-to and click 'buy on iTunes' on a songs detail. Let me know what it does.
