Maybe to get some of us ready for the U.S. First animation we could have a weekly or bi-weekly contest in modelling or animation. Sometimes people are great animators but they are dry for topics some times and just need a push in the right direction. A weekly contest would be nice so you could strech your creativity, keep active in 3DSMAX, and so on. The people in the competition could explain what how they did something if another person wanted to know. You'd have fun and learn some stuff as well. Thoughts or comments?

I know team hammond has a new animator this year, and a mini-weekly competition could help. If you are going to get this thing up and going, u better hurry, u cant be doing something like this during build. Keep me posted.

My only quarrel is who do we have judge? Or do we just have people vote on it, but not for the one they made?

create a panel, I know many people that would volunteer, then set up a secure site, that only the judges can access with a java chat and the voting can be live. then post the results the next day. I know that I would be more than happy to help with this project, if you need the help with the organization, judging, or getting the whole thing worked out shoot me an e-mail.

Meh, I think we could just keep it simple with a vote here on the forums.

Its tough, you will only get so many votes, and if you have a large output of entries, how will you host? not to mention have a voting system for it?

Anyone could vote, you could have people just post their vote and the reason why. That way it's not closed to a few people. You'd get a lot better criticism from multiple sources.

BTW, it's just called FIRST now, not US First... It should be called International FIRST now, but......

Random thought:
If you get all of the entries in ahead of time, someone can post them as a poll. People can vote in the poll at the top of the thread and, if they so desire, explain their choice in a post. It's not perfect, but it might serve your purposes.

Don't do a poll, we want people to vote for something that's not theres. Just have people post what they liked and then explain why.

Thats fine and all, but however you will have to have a system of how to score the entries, i think if the idea became a reality, you might want to have CD run it in a special section with a special type of "reply" box.
That would start....

You could just have people type their post in that format.
