David and I thought we would post this here just to see what people think of these two designs.
IndianaFIRST Logo 1 - Plain Outline (http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~cagilber/index_files/IndianaFIRST1.jpg)
IndianaFIRST Logo 2 - Detailed Outline (http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~cagilber/index_files/Untitled-best-new-perspective%20copy.jpg)
Now vote! :D
Any suggestions/comments?
Please make the bottom corners of the "square" match the perspective of the top corners.
It'll look 1000 times better.

is it just me or are like parts of the lines overlapping and going into the shape??.. I'd fix that...
Edit: part of the circle is overlapping the triangle

If your talking about the Triangle possibly....I got this FIRST logo from somewhere a while back and i'll i changed was the "Indiana State" part. If you can edit your post and tell me where or tell me on AIM or PM me that would be helpful.
[edit]- Ok, i changed the perspective. Now i've got to make some of the lines, line up better. I've changed the image link on the poll post.

What are you going to use this logo for??
Check the legality for FIRST logo use - especially the part about not modifying their logo in anyway!

The legalities have been checked and ok'ed.

The first version has the "square" looking like a mediocre job of editing, just a little morphing. but i think the second is much better. it might be cool to make the other shapes the same general size as the square.

Where's the "None of the above" Vote?
Clark Gilbert
19-11-2003, 19:09
There is no none of the above because i'm not asking you to pick a specific one. Just which one is better than the other (comparing 2 things, so there must be an answer, and it doesnt include none)

Well I disklike them equally.

Any reasons why? A post is pointless if you just say "I dont like them." or "I think they are both equally bad." What can we do to change them?

Well, both the larger than normal squares are too out of place for my tastes.

Ouch. Like Clark mentioned, constructive criticism is much more productive (and polite).
I like the idea and thought that the second one was better since it was more defined and you could actually tell that it was Indiana. The first one looked more like a rectangle was skewed oddly and I'm not sure if people would recognize it on it's own. The third drawing posted was a little too detailed with the very jagged edge on the bottom and it made it less pleasent aesthetically. #2 seems to have the best balance as for shape (I'm not good with the perspective/line/etc) stuff and if people have a decent sense of geography, that one's your best bet.
#2 is better because it looks like it isn't a mistake that someone just didn't fix. Also it fits more of a look of Indiana instead of a jagged box.

I'm sorry that we are not designing our logos to your tastes. Let me know when you have something meaningful to say.

Well Also, it just doesn't look like Indiana to me.

Since you seem so interested in this, could you tell us how you think Indiana should look? If we learn how the state of Indiana looks in the eyes of others we can design a better logo that is more eye catching to people who are not from the state. If you wanted to give us some pictures or drawings that would be helpful.

Come on people ... let's be productive.
Maybe someone can schedule an AIM meeting of some sorts to discuss the geography of Indiana, rather than replying to this thread 234 times tonight.

Well the way the detailed one outlined the states border mayed the square look deformed and not flat on top, that's why it doesn't strike me as Indiana.
Ryan Dognaux

It's not perfectly flat because part of the Great Lakes cut into the top of Indiana... Michigan, I think.
kevin.li.rit
19-11-2003, 22:26
I was actuall refering to the southern part.
D.J. Fluck
19-11-2003, 22:27
Yes, The Great Lakes do cut into Indiana and the southern border is actually the one side of the Ohio River. Check a map, The Indiana border isn't one straight line like many maps make it appear to be. Actually in the newest one, thats the closest I've ever seen the logo to looking like Indiana.
Keep up the good work.

I already knew that, I wasn't refering to the northern border along the lake, I was refering to the part along the rivers.

'not flat on top' doesn't refer to the northern border?
