Hey everyone. Well, we've gotten into our first regional, just barely. We still need to raise money for extra parts (about $4000) and money for a second regional/nats. We made it into our first regional by the hair on our chins, so to speak. We got 1 sponsor, who gave us $1000. Now, this was good because this is their second year sponsoring us, which means they have a commitment to our team.
Well anywho, this year we got lucky enough to have a parent on our team who works for FlexiCell. For those of you who know our team, and flexicell, you must realize that this is a very odd happening! Our team is made up of 90% homeschoolers. The student who's parent works for them is a homeschooler. Flexicell is among the top 3 leaders in producing flexible machine cells in throughout the eastern region. But, they are small! Last time we went I think they had less than 30 employees. How in the world could one of those employees just happen to have a homeshcooling kid who just happened to join our team?! The coincidence seems fishy...
Anyway, last year they sponsored Deep Run High. This year they have expressed interest in sponsoring 2 teams, one of which being Deep Run (I think). After they looked at our business packet, they became very interested in us. We're scheduled to meet with them Next Tuesday at 3 to give a short presentation (and hopefully seal the deal :D...we hope  )
They have offered us their space (something as a homeschooling team we don't have), mentors, and of course, funds. A good deal of funds. We don't know exactly how much they're willing to put up, but from what our contact was saying, it sounds like we may end up with more than we expected. Even if not, every bit helps, and we'd love to have them as sponsors.
So, wish us luck!
