I have tried to open the 2004 Pneumatics Manual on three different computers and I continue to have trouble with page 13. It seems the graphic of the "Rotary Actuator specification" is causing difficulty. It "paints" to the screen very slowly, and hangs my Adobe before it can complete the display. :ahh:
Anyone else seen this ? Any suggestions ?
Maybe FIRST could simplify that graphic/page and re-post the document.

Same problem here, but no answer yet.
You aren't alone.
yeah, I guess we all just have to be patient or print it off to keep from having to fight it multiple times.

Ditto...
it loads slowly for me, but it does not crash my adobe...I haven't tried opening it in windows yet, but my Gentoo system had no trouble aside from the crawling pace.

I just ran a test with different versions of Acrobat. Page 13 took FOREVER (several minutes of uninterrupted drizzle) under Acrobat 5.0. I downloaded the latest free version, Acrobat 6.0.1 onto the same machine and, after installing, the paint time on page 13 dropped to about 7 seconds. You might see if this helps.

I opened it with Photoshop and saved it as a JPG Image and it should open and print fine (so you can read it). To print it the easiest way would be to insert it into a Word file and it should fit just fine.

Acrobat 6.0.1 worked OK, but slow, and printed super slow in comparison to other stuff. Acrobat 5 wouldn't print it at all...

has anyone tried downloading it? I've found it goes a bit faster when downloading it.

what about then just printing the 1-12 and 14 -19 pages, and using this guy's jpeg as your page 13. that would solve it if paul's idea of trying again doesn't work.

same here, my mother finnally got it open at her work (hospital with a sweet setup on servers and internet) but she couldn't print it and it's too big for floppy... oh well guess I'll keep plugging.

Thanks to Clark Gilbert I have re-generated the entire pdf file replacing page 13 with a new pdf page made from Clark's jpg file. You should be able to get it here:
http://www.angelfire.com/mech/indyfirstengineer/FIRST/2004_FIRST_Pneumatics_Manual.zip (1.8 Mb zipped)
Unfortunately due to the multiple "translations" of pg 13, it is not quite as sharp as the original, but it now works fine (viewing and printing) for me.

of course I finnally figured you can use the Save as.. button and it works alot better (at least here it does) :]
