View Full Version : Anyone get Autonomous mode to work?

I have last years competition port dongle and it doesn't seem to select alternate channels, or enable autonomous mode anymore. The "disable" switch still works.
I followed the instructions in the IFI OI interface manual, setting the team # to 0 and disconnecting the tether and still no joy. I can never get the RC Mode LED to blink yellow (autonomous mode) and my autonomous code never runs.
The OI documentation still refers to last years Competition Port Dongle and I can't imagine they changed it (think of all those competition controllers). It sure looks like the IFI RC/OI is broken for autonomous and alternate channel selection.

I know in the OI guide, IFI talks about the competition port (Here (http://www.innovationfirst.com/FIRSTRobotics/pdfs/FR-2004-OI_Ref_Guide_2003-12-19.pdf), Page 12). This is the same pinouts as last year's documentation, but auto mode is not listed in the port list. I would assume they are are using the same pinouts for the game controllers, but I'm not sure. We are working on testing this too.

We tested ours from last year with our Team # set and the tether, and the OI disable LED blinks for autonomous and stays solid for disable. We didn't check the autonomous bit from within the code yet.

My how emberassing! Just because it was a dongle from last year and didn't appear to be modified I assumed it was working. Silly me: Two of the switches were missing their guts...

I don't even want to know how or why you would take the guts out of your dongle.... but at least you know the problem....
Yay! You get to solder... :D
