If this is already the topic of a thread I apologize, I looked and didn't see anything covering it and was surprised.

Anyways, Do you think or know if the rules disallow the HP to climb UP on the ball chute frame that is in the players station?

The reason I see for doing this is that you can get a little taller and maybe just drop some Human player balls into a mobile goal that is close to the wall.

I realize that it could potentially be a safety issue - But do you think, or know if it is legal or illegal?

No. Safety is always first. Imagine if you break your neck, or break the ball chute. They won't be very happy.

But I wonder if you can make yourself taller (very high heals)...

Sorry, but in my opinion, this is a rediculous question to ask, off the records- A can guarentee this will not be legal. Did you listen to what they said at kick off about commen sence?

I would say that this is illegal due to the fact that it causes a safety concern. But I searched the rules and found rule:

<G10> HUMAN PLAYERs cannot be aided by any object or ther person. Violating this rule will result in the disabling of the team’s ROBOT and the team will be disqualified.

I see the ball chute as an object and by standing on it you would be aided.

thats a killer idea, deffinitly something im gonna try when we get our field together.. but i dont think that would fly over well in the comp.. but i havent seen a rule about bringing a ladder into the human area.. so uhhh... yeah

It looks like it is time to find some platform shoes from the 70's. :D

Just a note... ladders and platform shoes would be illegal under Rule G10, as Kyle posted above. They're both objects that aid the Human Player, and are thus against the rules.

i think G10 stated above would qualify for the ladder... so that's probably out.

--edit-- heh, Jeff posted first :)

One warning if you're thinking about dropping balls right over the side into one of the mobile goals, don't reach over the acrylic wall. Back in 2002, one of our opponent alliances was DQed for going over the wall when they were throwing a soccer ball.

Cmon. You know FIRST. IMO there is no way they would ever allow this. There is no rule explicitly against this, but neither is there a rule against gerbils this year. That doesn't mena FRIRST will allow it.

(as long as the gerbils are not used as a power source. A non functional decoration perhaps?)

They'll probably add an animal cruelty rule if you did.

But remember they wouldn't even let you reach over the glass in 2002?

There wasnt a rule against hamsters last year, but people obeyed common sence and saw that by gerbils they probably meant all rodents. But I dont think they've ever ruled out human power. Hmmm...12v battery and control board strapped to 100 lb person who can bend to under 5 ft. mwa ha ha ha ha

well - than to cause some trouble...

What if a student wears platforums (for the whole day) but it gives like 2+ inches of lift? Should there be a rule that we have to play in our socks only?

I'm gonna make some wooden shoes for sale. Any FIRST people intrested - drop me a pm and say how many inches of lift you want!! :p :D

You can go many ways with this...

(yea, yea - i'm a trouble starter - so what?)

The two inches would probably make it more difficult for her to score, not they I know from first hand experience.....or do I?

probably not .. i wear about 5 inch heels/platforms all day every day (except for at home and sports, etc) and i am pretty comfortable in them and can do things people in running shoes can do (which includes shooting hoops) ... so i dont think that it would be a problem for the HP if they are comfortable in them. so if a person was wearing shoes that increased their height, than i dont think it would be against the rules ..

and if a guy was wearing shoes to increase his height, would a FIRST official say something to him, because it might be his every day wear and then he might become offended ...

What if you read the whole thread and/or the rules and saw that it is most obviously illegal to stand on anything but your feet? (IE: shoes contacting the floor)

i did read the whole thread. i meant it as a joke, not as something to be taken seriously
