My team and I were wondering if we could also use tanks from previous years (FIRST kit). Is this a possibility or would our team have to purchasenew ones? (The tanks are the same as those found in this years kit). Please respond prior to 10 PM tonight.

according to the parts use flow chart, additional air storage tanks may not be used on the robot.

<R01> Energy used by FIRST Robotics Competition robots, i.e., stored at the start of a match, may come solely from:

....
• Compressed air stored in the pneumatic system, but only supplied by the compressor included in the kit, and stored at a maximum pressure of 120 PSI only in the two Clippard Instruments tanks provided in the Kit

Do these restrictions also apply for other pneumatic mechanisms, ie: compressor, pistons, etc.?

Ummm...

For more information about FIRST 2004 pneumatic rules... I recommend consulting your MANUAL!

Alex, please get yourself a copy of Section 5 of the manual, titled "The Robot". It clearly explains what restrictions exist for pneumatics as well as other robot systems.

If you have any difficulty getting that section of the manual, let me know and I will help you figure out what you need to do to download it.

:)

Thanks,

Aidan

NO, they dont. Read section 5.2.9 of robot rules, and look at the parts use flowchart near the end of robot section of the manual.

u cant use more air tanks, regulators, and pressure switches
