View Full Version : Pivoting arm?
If we were to have a pivoting arm that is over 36 inches when out, but it is being started in an upright position, is it allowed?

If it falls with-in the footprint prior to the start of the match, then you are okay. You may expand as much as it wants once match starts. Your robot will literally be shoved into a glass box to make sure it will fit the dimentions of the footprint during inspection for the competition, so be sure you will fall with-in that footprint.

You may expand your robot in any position you want after the match starts. However you must reset your robot to the exact position that it was in the box. In other words you cannot have a robot on the field in starting position that is 30 by 36 by 70 inches it has to be 30 by 36 by 60.
The general rule of thumb is to build your robot 2 inches smaller to allow space on each side in case you want to add objects later on in the build season such as side panels.
FIRST is really picky about being a few inches off before the match but you MUST fit in the sizing box during inspection otherwise you wont compete!!!!!!! :ahh: :ahh:
