Team 1020 would like to offer a little help to teams during build season.

Our team has quite a few experienced programmers helping us out. We'd like to help YOU out, too. If you have a question about this year's programming, get a hold of us at the contact below.

If you can't get an answer on the forums, maybe we can help you out! We look forward to hearing from you!

Amanda didn't mention it, but my email is dav@thedevelopersalliance.com, if you prefer to use that instead of PM.

Heck, I'll try to give suggestions (or just info) if you post a new thread. I try to get one at least once a day and read everything new. I'm sort of new to C (I've done C-like languages). I don't think I'm doing badly, actually :) .

Wouldn't it be nice, if we can setup a directory of all the teams who are willing to offer help? Then anyone who need help can go to that directory, look up the state they are in, and look at the category they want to seek help about. This would be different from FIRST's team list, because only teams willing to offer help will sign up for this directory. Sort of like the BuzzU website for college students, but for teams to seek help.

Sure beat every team just post a message saying they are offering help. It is too disorganized and too hard to find the right team.

::sniff:: I smell an award idea ;)

Word to the wise for whomever does do this - don't let it die. This is a great opportunity for a newer team to find differentiation in the FIRST community, and I would love to see a forum/database like that last for years to come.

I might talk to the kid on our team who's designing our web site. You may see a post one day about that idea being done... :)

Of course, he might yell at me and tell me that he has enough to do. :)

Maybe I'm missing something here, but FIRST already has a "Willing to Mentor" list of teams.

Go to the team locator, click a state, and click "What teams are willing to mentor from this state?" - No need to reinvent the wheel

then again, adding catagories of help might be nice - i.e. some teams are willing to help with programming, et cetera

Do you mean like:
p3_x, p3_y, p3_wheel, p3_sw_trig, p3_sw_top
and
p4_x, p4_y, p4_wheel, p4_sw_trig, p4_sw_top

?

we need the code for the new joysticks.

we need the code for the new joysticks.
Sorry, Ian, but your clarification didn't clarify. :confused:

What, exactly, do you need? Do you need some C code with which to read the joysticks? Do you need to know what values are returned when you read the joysticks? What values are returned when you read the funny little "POV hat" thumb cursor thingie? (That's been covered in another thread.)

Give us a clue, and we'll try to help.

we need the code for the new joysticks.

As in user_routines.c, Default_Routine()

change:

/*---------- 1 Joystick Drive ----------------------------------------------
*--------------------------------------------------------------------------
* This code mixes the Y and X axis on Port 1 to allow one joystick drive.
* Joystick forward = Robot forward
* Joystick backward = Robot backward
* Joystick right = Robot rotates right
* Joystick left = Robot rotates left
* Connect the right drive motors to PWM13 and/or PWM14 on the RC.
* Connect the left drive motors to PWM15 and/or PWM16 on the RC.
*/
pwm13 = pwm14 = Limit_Mix(2000 + p1_y + p1_x - 127);
pwm15 = pwm16 = Limit_Mix(2000 + p1_y - p1_x + 127);

to

/*---------- 2 Joystick Drive ----------------------------------------------
pwm13 = pwm14 = p3_y;
pwm15 = pwm16 = 254 - p4_y; // or p4_y if your motors are rigged to both run forward

?

There has been miles and miles of stuff written on the new sticks. try searching for "joystick".

Just thought I would mention that team 96 (http://www.team96.org) is more than willing to help anyone with programming. Any language (as in, need help with your website?)

We have a list of resources available, and a bunch of other stuff.

when we try to 'make' the modified default code we get the following error.
we get it also when trying to make the unmodified default code.
tried reloading mplab and default code to no avail.

Couldn't locate build tool. Check tool locations.

BUILD FAILED: Thu Feb 12 10:17:23 2004You need to tell MPLAB where the C compiler and some other tools are located on your disk.

You do this in MPLAB by going to:
Project -> Select Language Toolset

Select "Microchip C18 Tooset" in the "Active Toolset" bar.

Now in the Toolset Contents window you will see:

MPASM Assembler
MPLINK Object Linker
MPLAB C18 C Compiler

You must click on each of these and give it the proper location for the tool.
You can Browse there or enter the full path if you know it. The default installation puts
MPASM at "C:\Program Files\MPLAB IDE\MCHIP_Tools\mpasmwin.exe"
MPLINK at "c:\mcc18\bin\mplink.exe"
MPLAB C18 at "C:\mcc18\bin\mcc18.exe"

This is our world now... the world of the electron and the switch, the beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying for what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering gluttons, and you call us criminals. We explore... and you call us criminals. We seek after knowledge... and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals. Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like. My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for. I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop me, but you can't stop us all...

Hi, 1st of all im from Mexico, so im not an expert in english language!
2nd, im desparate, im programming in delphi and i need help; so... im accepting your help! :yikes:

situation:

i have mi desktop pc (we can call it PC), and my laptop. In both computers i have visual fox pro and delphi. Im building an application that have a db grid (Element place in the Data Controls tab... in delphi of course :rolleyes:) , an adotable and a datasource (nothing outta this world :p ). Beside this i do click in the lil browser icon in the adotable's ConnectionString property, my USE CONECCTION STRING look like this:Provider=MSDASQL.1;Persist Security Info=False;Data Source=Karla then i do click in the Build button, it sends me to a window that have 4 tabs, in the Connection Tab i choose in the name of my db in odbc "karla". "karla" is my 'alias' to redirect delphi to check my db.

Now, in this point u will wanna know the configuration of 'karla', so , here we go:

I went to the ODBC icon (Star/control panel/administrative tools/Data source (odbc) ), then i click in add... (adding a new user data source), then i choose Driver do Microsoft dbase(*.dbf) (remeber im using visual fox pro database), click finish, then in data source name i write 'karla', in the version i choose 'dbase 5.0', and finally y click select directory and find the folder of my database. click OK, done.

Great!!

Now, back to the delphi's form i put in datasource's dbgrid 'datasource1', in tablename's adotable i choose 'da15' (thats the table im using) and finally choose TRUE in the property active of my adotable.

Perfect, the info is load it, and i can read it from my dbgrid! perfect! now.. play...WOW ERROR!

Project project1.exe raised exception class EOleException with message '[Microsoft][ODBC dBase Driver]Unexpected error from external database driver (15877)'.

mmm i dont now why?! if i run this application in my pc i have no problem, its run well, but inmy laptop doesnt

what could it be? help!!!

and thanks for your time!!

Don't ever put that much text in that large of letters.
Please read the other sticky: If you come here asking for Delphi programming.... This is not a forum about the Delphi programming lanuage.

And welcome to ChiefDelphi. Please don't use a font that big.

It may be a good idea if we start a thread where you post any problems you have had with hardware or software. Or you can post what code has worked for you, and what hasn't. If people read this thread, their problem may be solved and they wont have to go through a long search process or use up additional server resources when these boards' busyness is at its height.
