That smells... ::sniff sniff:: a lot like a WPI MQP :) Can we say "Continuously Variable Toroidal Transmission"? I get the feeling the shop's going to be occupied for quite awhile with some stumped machinists!

It's not.. its just a simple gear copied and rotated to have what looks to be 6-8 gears with just the midpoint of the center's on the first gear. No feasible use that I can think of.
