View Full Version : FIRST Lego League (didn't know where to post this)
Hi everyone, I wasn't quite sure where I should post this, but I was hoping someone could forward some info my way.
My name is Ann-Marie and I'm an engineering student at the University of Waterloo (Canada) as well as a former member of team 783. Up at Waterloo we've been doing a lot of promoting FIRST (including the formation of a US FIRST Alumni group which has recently won a bid for a regional at our university in 2005)
But anyway, back to the point. I was at an aerospace conference this past weekend and I got talking to someone with kids that are really into robotics. I'm already shipping him off to check out the Cdn Regional, but I wanted to send him some info on the FIRST Lego League so that his kids might be able to get into it. Unfortunately, I kinda need some good info to send him.
If anyone has some good info on where I can send him to get started, etc. I would really appriciate it! Just send it to: ahwinkle@engmail.uwaterloo.ca
Thanks!

Well unfortunately, we're both in Canada.. he's in Waterloo, I'm actually on my work term (4 month co-op term in university) so I'm out in BFN (aka Burlington Ontario.. yay!) So I don't think I'll be making that one. But I'm really thankful to get all these replies so quick. You guys are awesome. Sadly though, I have to get going so I can't look through info today (I don't have the internet in my apt. this term, so Im stuck going to the library for net access... this sucks btw!) so yea, thanks again, and if you guys come up with any other need to know/ resources/ etc. either email me or reply on this thread please!
Thank you Thank you Thank you! It's nice to know that atleast part of the world still isn't jaded (I work at a landing gear R&O plant.. everyone's jaded!!)
ttyl!

If you're interested in finding FLL competitions near you, look here (http://www.firstlegoleague.org/calendar.aspx?pid=210). I looked at the list a little and it appears that the only one left in Canada is in Alberta this Saturday (http://www.firstlegoleague.org/calendar.aspx?pid=210&action=showevent&eventid=380). But even if that isn't convenient for you, it lists the teams by province so maybe you could contact one of them to do a demonstration or something like that.

Try contacting the Directors of the FLL Tournaments. Most will have videos of the competition and they would be happy to get a copy to you.
This weekend is probably the last weekend of FLL Tournament.
I'll have still pictures of the NY State FLL Tournament soon. PM me if you like copies.

Actually there are still a few more tournaments. My team(48, the Robo Monkeys) will be competing in this (http://www.firstlegoleague.org/calendar.aspx?pid=210&action=showevent&eventid=515) one in Worcester, MA on February 28 and I think there are some others during February. And of course there is that invitational in Atlanta in April :).
There will also be an Invitational Lego League tournament at the Palmetto Robotics Regional.
