Oh yeah. Looks like Intel's lazyness has gotten to them, and AMD still is behind a bit. BTW, they also said that the PPC 970FX (the ones shipping in the XServe G5, not the PMG5) is the best proc this year.

Tis a good day to be a Mac user.

Ok. PPC is compatable with Linux.

Given the 970's ridiculous awesomeness, you could install linux.

Then install Box(x86 machine emulator).

Then install windows in Box. Then install HL2 in windows. . .

Thats what, two or three layers of emulation?

The 970 could probably do it.

Playing UT2k4 on an Xserve. Mmmm. The demo kills my 1.25ghz PB.

What do you have that uses that much processing power?

Seriously, I'm still using an old AMD 800 Mhz T-bird. I have Gentoo Linux on it, optimized the CFLAGS all crazily, and it runs really good.
Even KDE only takes about 5 to 10 seconds to load, and once it's loaded, it doesn't have to wait on anything else.

Being able to say "I have the fastest computer ever!" is cool, but why waste the money if you don't need it?
