294: Always thinking outside the box....or in this case, thinking from the box while hanging upside down :)

Could you post a pic of the righted robot (or maybe some action shots)? I searched for some, and could only find pics of pieces of it.

Wow.. thats a great idea. Do you have a crew of three people that will be able to get it out of the box at compotition safely on there own? Or does the box fold down to get it out easier?

No photoshop. I really was sitting in the crate under the robot on the left. Unlike the worried student on the right, I was confident that the robot would not fall on my head. We added two support posts to make it easier to get the robot in and out and to keep the robot from falling if the support straps are cut.

I was just wondering why you did this. Is it to put tools in the lower portion of the crate?

It made more sense to hang our bot in our strong crate. We have to ship 6 heavy totes (tools and cool handouts - HELLO Phoenix!), and keeping them on the bottom of the crate keeps the weight on the bottom of the crate, and lessens the issue of them toppling on the robot.

The inside of the crate is a traveling recreation of our Spirit Room in our secret clubhouse at our facility, and of the Spirit Room Chairman's Award video alluded to by our student webmaster.

herds, grabs goals, grabs large balls, grappling hook hand at end of full arm grabs bar from "off" the steps (can go up steps, but doesn't need to to reach bar) and winches itself up off the ground.

second stage of arm open to grab large balls

First day of design Mark wanted your 2001 arm, and despite Mark's and my confidence that you would share the design, some mentors and students alike didn't think it would happen. *chuckle* They learned to their amazement what coopetition is about. Thank you so much!

winning Team 60 arm. (with some mods...) as you said, 'Smart minds think alike...' Thanks again Bionic Bulldogs." Mark

It confused me to when I saw the photo. I thought it was fake also 'till I just read the whole thread. I also thought that after the six weeks your team has gone insane. :D

I also heard you should hang your robot upside down if you're planning on shipping it across the equater. I think the teams from Brazil are doing this so the robot arrives in North America right side up. :p :D

Well, I wonder why you like it :D

I also have some Inventor Pics (minus the last stage, we're working on it now) if anybody wants them.
