Of course, me being me, I didnt read the title of ths thread...
...and I look at the kid and then look at the robot and then look at the floor and think "What is 177's bot doing all the way up in Upstate NY?"
...and then it hits me. :)
Great job!
Thanks for the compliments. :D
We're all very proud of this system. She's got lots of little tricks up her sleeve. I suppose we'll have to wait till next week to see what she's really capable of ;).
There will be more pics posted on our website later tonight.
This robot design has been influenced by lots of past robots -- see how many you can pick out. Plenty of inspiration in this one!
(Jess already got one of them).
If you have any questions, just ask... (for most things) I'll be more than happy to share.

Excellent work on the "inspired by the Bobcats" monocaulk arm. It almost looks like you stole it from us and then CNCed some weight out. ;D

Actually... it's a RAGE inspired arm... or was it a BUZZ inspired arm?.. I keep forgetting. I know it's not an Aces inspired arm, cuz it has no turret... though I suppose the arm itself could be Aces inspired... hmmm... :ahh:
Those Bob-kittens sure do know how to build an arm though. ;)
(I never get sick of Eric and Tommy talking about 2001)
Will you be sending any reps to NH for scouting? Tell them to stop by the 229 pit...

Gee, I don't recall when rage used two shafts of extruded alluminum to telescope in and out of eachother that nicely... granted ours looked better because we didnt take gouges out of it, but that one is definately recognizable :p

you sure about that John?..... the picture below tells a different story..
Moral of the story is that an arm is an arm, nobody can claim "the arm" design as their own, since it is so generic. Now if you said an aluminum extrusion arm polished with "mothers" wax, that might be a bobcat patent.. :)
Great work though guys, very impressive robot, i'll be sure to check it out more closely at the competitions!
And the picture...

Tommy that arm could use some extra polish... do you know anyone who could polish it up for us? We really like that extra shine... ;)
(For those that don't know... Tom is a 177 alumni, and last year at regionals he polished their arm, after hours... just for fun.... without them knowing about it. Tom... that's just sick and twisted.) ;)

John what you are also forgetting is that he did this at nationals as well. In which case I had the pilot on the plane ride home ask him if he could give the wings a good waxing. It was a good time too bad Tom was asleep when it happened. Lol jsut fooling with you Tom.

Dear R2,
My name is KatsKlaw. You are sure pretty. During the competitions, I'm gonna have my hands full, collecting balls and scoring points. I could sure use a friend.
Can you come out to play?

Andy,
I've consulted with my lawyer, and I do believe that this is a legal and binding verbal agreement that states Team 45 has chosen Team 229 as an alliance partner at a time mutually convenient for both parties (The Championship Event).
We'll be on the sidelines awaiting your representatives final confirmation of said agreement during the draft. Failure to comply will result in us being forced to take legal action.
Besides, we wouldn't want to make Artoo upset... you wouldn't like her when she's upset.
Seriously though... it's like a match made in heaven.

Anything look familiar? ;)
Another of those "inspired by" design features R2 is filled with.
"you can't touch her... she shifts like a technokat and rings like a huskie"
Come check her out in person to see more of her surprises.... :)

Yes. Yes, it would.
So, how tall is it exactly? Somewhere around 15'?
That's very impressive.
