I am just wondering what some other teams are giving out at the regionals, whether it be buttons, lanyards, or other things.

The same silver dog tags on the small shot bead chains as last year. They were pretty hot items. We almost ran out within the first day.

Team 217 is gonna go wild as we always do. We're keeping old favorites such as the chicken keychains and buttons. We're still maintaining our "Tattoo Crews" at Detroit and Chicago regionals, and at Nationals too, so PREPARE TO GET TATTOOED!!! :) Unfortunately, we had to ditch the Peeps this year because of the "No Candy" thing, so instead we have a few surprises that I'm gonna keep up my sleeve. ;)

Oh, PS - I love those dogtags.

Beads, buttons, and, yes, Sparky Wrist Bands! They will be returning! So all you Sparky lovers out there need to go to Champs or VCU and get a few!

If you've seen the recent pictures of our robot, you'll probably notice all of the 2" holes in the 3x3" aluminum. We might be giving the byproduct of that process out, at SVR. The first bunch were done with a 2" chassis punch, which distorts them, much like 1/8" pringles. A majority were done with a 2" metal cutting holesaw.

The chassis punch series is a limited edition, and should be worth somewhere around $200 a piece, after our team has gone under. That's what my financial advisor says, anyway...

We have buttons (of course) pens, bendies and t-shirts that we made (not the tie-dyes).

I had 30lbs of mardi gras beads sent from Mississippi. LOL

Were giving out buttons and probaly necklaces and bracelets with our school colors on them. I'm a rookie on the team so I'm not sure about the necklaces and bracelets.

The same tattoos we've been handing out for the past couple of years...
Maybe something else. We haven't really thought about it...

We are giving out doggy bags, some t-shirts, and awards to others teams. The awards are very cool (and a suprise) so if you want to see them come by and play with one. We have Dave Lavery to thank, and I am not sure he even knows it?

For Beach Cities Robotics we are giving out buttons, hairbands, little finger skateboards, and info cards. And our Gracious Preofessionalism poster, as well as handing out a Gracious Professionalism Award to one team in Phoenix and LA...I think we are still trying to figure out what we are going to be doing about nats. Be on your best behaviour and help those teams that need it, and if you are nominated, you could win! lol...ok, that was advertising, did it work?

Well.. Here is my idea, that i havn't presented yet. We have planty of screwup parts, scraps and other miscellaneous aluminum misfits lying around the shop. We should stamp our team number into them, put them on chains and give them away. OSHA would not approve of giving out long dangly thigns that go around the neck at robotics competitions. The other handout i prototyped is polished lacquered 1.5" diameter neodymium magnets with our team logo on them. Another idea is lightup pens.

OSHA would not approve of giving out long dangly thigns that go around the neck at robotics competitions. At LA last year a couple of us sat on top of the crate in the pit. The head ref came over and said we had to get down because it didn't have an OSHA approved railing. So, the next day we brought some scrap wood and made a makeshift railing on top of the crate. It worked for about half the day and then he came over and recognized out efforts but said it still is not up to OSHA standards.

Personally I am thinking of doing a "Trade Raffle" , since we cant sell stuff, so instead I am going to be doing a raffle of various stuff probably some tools and gift cards and such. you get your tickets with your team trinkets ... the better/rare the trinket the more tickets you recieve

P.S. This is legal under FIRST rules now right?

Wetzel
27-02-2004, 23:07
We will have at least two diffrent types of buttons.

That raffle is a cool idea. No idea if its legal or not....I'm assuming it would be though.

As of right now we're handing out buttons..... but I'm working on something else, have to bring it up with the rest of the team first. Hopefully you will all bask in its amazing glory and coolness (Ha, I wish, I'm not that creative). Again...still in planning stages. Its a surprise ;)

Those are RCU armbands/hairbands.

We'll be handing out old Nuts n Volts mags at Phoenix, and yo-yo's.

We'll probably have cool mugs from sponsor rent.com at So Cal Regional. Their logo is "Find what moves you" and is pertinent to robotics being what moves us!

Our sponsor Redondo Fun Factory will be donating handouts especially for nats, but we don't know what they are yet.

We have left over carabineers from last year, but our main "novelty" will be stress balls but in the shape of an apple. I am just hoping we don't run out too quickly!

Our Team doesnt know what we are giving out this year. For the past two years we have been giving out rocks with our team stamp on it. you know Rock (RAWC) get it. well this year we dont know if we should still stay with the rocks or do something different. a couple of sugestions came up like. dog tags "Army style tags", Stickers, play-doh (??I dont know where that one came from??). what do you other teams think??

28-02-2004, 04:10
Our team will be giving away more of our little flashlights, dogtags, and buttons of course..

something i think would be great is if a team gave out small lego sets (like the ones you get from a drug store/etc. for like $4.00 or somthing.. that would be coolness

This year, my team is making little games that you tilt back and forth and attempt to get small balls into. I hope you know what i mean.......

Oh and they will be in the shape of monkeys because out theme this year is monkeys.

I think this would be best answered by our teams Marketing group....but I know we are giving out many many buttons, and of course information on our new rotating beacon sensor.

We will be having a seminar at the Manchester regional to describe the design. (hardware and software) We will be giving away all design drawings, all code and all schematics and BOMs so that people can use it for themselves.

Don't worry if you are not coming to the Manchester NH regional....we will be placing the same design data on our website for all to download. (you will just miss the seminar given by the students who worked on it.....but we will probably be posting email addresses of people you can send questions to either way)

Team 1110 should once again be handing out maze pens, similar to your mazes( but in PEN FORM!!!), although we haven't been able to contact our supplier yet. We will also be handing out trading cards of all of our team members (collect them all).

I just realized that our team can't afford anything besides tattoos...I'd really love to have shoelaces or something to hand out...But it's so expensive! We really don't have money like that to spend on stuff like that...

We gave out those last year but the company that designed them put our logo right in the middle of the game making them basically useless.

I will personally hand out team members at the Canadian Super Regional if anyone else desires one. They're the ultimate souvenir.

Oh yeah, we'll have buttons too. Just don't try to give me any. Inserting tens of sharp things into your shirt can cause pain in the long run ;)

Sigh, it seems that my team will not be handing out our fantastic maze pens this year. We were never able to get in contact with our "contact." It's a shame... :(
