I have a few questions from our team (we are doing the Inventor award for the first time this year).
Is there a way to save IDW files as images without a screenshot?
How do you get the disconnected assembly and bill of materials into an inventor drawing (Like team 75's submission last year (www.roboraiders.com click on design showcase))?
Is there a good tutorial out there for animation?
Is there anything else you think we should know?

Do a "Safe File As" and select bitmap (.bmp).

Not sure what you are referring to. Can you give the specific example on 75's submission?

http://www.sdotson.com has a whole lot of great tutorials for Inventor, including everything you will ever need to know about animation.

If you didn't do the tutorials that came with Inventor (hit Help on the menubar and select tutorials) do it now. They will save you a bunch of time in the long run.
Good luck!

There are some over in the animation froum. I haven't used them but people talk like they are good. Plus 3Dstudio Max comes with some that are all right.

Dissconected assemblies and Bill of Materials.... I think you are talking about exploded views and part lists in a .idw drawings? Exploded views are created by inserting assemblies in presentation files and using the explode feature. You can do an auto-explode or use tweak components and manually move the pieces around. As for the parts list you can take the presntation file.....put it into the .idw file....and somewhere on the annotation panel i beleive is the parts list function. They are not as complicated to make as they seem.....I hope this is what you were talking about....if not, let me know i can give you real specific directions on how to do this stuff or point you towards the right place (sdotson is a really good website to check out.)
These exploded views and part list things are my specialty.

Thanks for all of your help. I would try your suggestions but I don't have access to a computer with inventor at the moment.

Brant's right - first create the presentation of the exploded assembly, then create the .idw with the presentation as the base view.
