changing vertex color

How do you change the vertex color?
I can't find it in the Customize user interface> Colors Tab
It's so frustrating... especially if my background is white and i'm trying to trace a picture with splines...

Then just go into paint or something and invert the colors on your background....

customize user interface > in the elements list go to geometry > in the box scroll down to vertex ticks
