wow.... hope you dont do that to our bot.... =]
ps... your bot looks awesome... just one question... how do you climb the steps with those small wheels?? (I read earlier that you could hang from the floor but also climb the steps...)
geez....is that regulation hdpe? same thickness and everything?
feel the POWER!!
I hope that everyone built extremely sturdy robots - the level of engineering in these robots has gone up a lot in recent years. lots of teams are really fast now, and when you have bots repeatedly bashing into each other at very high speeds, stuff is going to break.
I mean, think about it, if you have 2 bots bash into each other each going 15 feet/sec, that's basically a 20 mph collision. not good. granted, most teams aren't quite THAT fast, but the potential is still there.
it will definitely be an exciting year.

we used the polycarb from the player stations to make the platform
did you smash it with the claw as it is in the picture? or did you fall off of the bar?

it looks like they fell off the bar... look where it broke and how many pieces it split in to. and theres no spidering... i doubt they did it with the arm. unless its a realy strong arm :yikes: :yikes:

polycarb, eh.. how thick is it. ive never seen lexan break like that before. It will bend like heck, but not shatter. Sure its not plexi?

I believe you are correct, although I never really examined it myself I am pretty sure that sheet was not polycarbonate. I believe it was Plexiglas and not real thick at that.
But you gotta admit it's a cool picture.

We can climb the small steps pretty easily, but its hard to negotiate around the goal so we probably won't be doing that.
To get up the 6" we use our arm. When we push the arm down on the platform the front of our robot lifts up, then we drive forward with our back wheels on the carpet. Once the front wheels catch the platform it drives up there.

that looks like an egg beater
Did team 254 collaborate with team 60, the bionic bulldogs, at all for this years bot?

This is sort of OT....
If it was made of Lexan, could you have it replaced under warranty? I was looking at a sheet of Lexan in our lab and I saw it has something like a 5 year guarantee against breaking.

ah ok... nice idea..
oh.. and I've seen that material you have on your wheels and grabber circles in other pictures and was wondering what it was....

question.... how fast does your robot move... and how fast would you think it takes for your bot to get on the platform and hang...?

We run about 15ft/sec in high gear and can latch from the floor and hoist up in about 15 sec, maybe less.
By the way I took a look at the broken section of the platform tonight and it was indeed lexan. Whether or not the damage was done by our arm I won't say, but you might want to stay clear..... just in case.

i find that unbelieveable... what was the thickness... that stuff is rated for like 500 mph collisions without breaking
