As you may have seen, there are Groups you can join in your User CP. Right now there are only 2 or 3 that have been made (mainly as a test of the functionality).
What I need now, is a list of groups that people would like made. All groups will have 1-x leaders (you have to let me know who you want to be a leader). A leader basically has the ability to add/remove people from the group.
Either reply here, or PM me with the info. I'll need a group name, small description (1-2 sentences, max), and a list of leaders (forum usernames).

i would like for a Rochester FIRST group to be made. BIO: this group will provide a place for all of the rochester ny FIRST memebers to keep intouch and provide a unity between teams during the years to come.
i would like to be a leader of this group
i would like to setup one for Long Island First Members.
How about a User group for the unofficial fraternity for college students in FIRST - the DOX Fraternity? I'd like to be a leader, and I'm sure BandChick will want to be also (cuz she started the idea). :]

Question - how much bandwith, maintenance & labor time does this suck up, Brandon?
If the answer is "a lot", I think we as a group need to decide how we're going to break ourselves up geographically in terms of these groups. Not trying to pick on Greg here(really!), but a team from Rochester could very well be a part of a Rochester group, a region of Rochester group, a county group, a region of the county group, a NY group, an upstate NY group, a Northeast group, an East Coast group, a US group, and so on.
I think user groups are a great idea, but I would prefer on the geography side that we choose one geographic fragmentation and stick to it, if it starts to get out of hand. Either regionally (ie a Northeast group) or state-wide (a NY group) would be my first choices.

I was thinking more like unofficial and/or official organizations and the like. (IndianaFIRST, FloridaFIRST, NJ FIRST, DOX, RCU, First-A-Holics, etc)
Adding is easy... 3 clicks.
Maintenance (adding/removing people) is up to the group leader, really.
In the future, I'd like to be able to have a tiny icon that could show next to peoples posts for each group they are in. This would be an easy way to see what groups people belong to, without having to head over to their detail page.

Is it possible to have multiple user groups for people to belong in?
For example, I am perfectly fine with any one of the following: WRRF, California (or Northern California), College FIRST-a-holic, and FIRST volunteer. If I absolutely have to choose 1, I would choose WRRF, but it will be really great if I can have all of the above. That will make user groups that much more useful because people like Andy Baker will be in WFA committee, IndianaFIRST, FIRST referee, etc etc etc, and won't have to choose 1 user group.
It would be a shame if we can only choose one, and when people try to look up some other user group we are also in, and aren't there.
