Hey all. Petey from Team 1073 here.

We only signed up for the BAE Manchvegas Regional, but we got a taste of official competition there and want more. However, it seems that all of the Regionals outside of the New England area are booked.

Does anyone know
1) What the chances are of a team not showing at, say, UTC and a spot opening up
2) Who to contact if such an opportunity were to present itself.

Thank you.

You would have to contact FIRST to see if entering a second regional is possible -- though, in my experience, it's probably not possible.

The planning for these events takes place weeks and months in advance and relies somewhat on which teams are attending -- so sometimes it's not even possible to just take someone's spot.

Still, FIRST will give you a clearer answer than anyone here can.

A second question, in light of this response--has anyone ever been accepted to a second regional under conditions such as those I described above?

We were accepted for NJ last year after registration closed. There were still openings available and we had to get approval directly from Bob Hammond. At this point the question is--Where is your crate?--- this may determine if you can go to another event even if an opening comes up.

Good luck and do not forget the off-season events. Beantown Blitz is one of the first, look in the off-season forum.
