I am putting together a video of highlights from the build season and regional competition. I was wondering if anybody has suggestions for songs to play in the background. I was thinking something upbeat, maybe techno.

Thanks

um... The Rockafeller $@#$@#$@#$@#$@#? Seriously, our videographer used the music from Lost in Space and made something pretty cool. Check out http://www.athenianrobotics.org/video to see what I mean.

maybe the ohohohoh remix of zombie nation? our team used it in our promotional video, and it worked quite well. The promotional video can be seen at: http://www.titanrobotics.net/index2.cfm?page=promotional.cfm

anything from the Matrix soundtrack.. Try "Dread Rock" By Paul Okenfold, or maybe some linkin park.

you know, you dont necessairly need to go the way of techno or hard stuff or beats for a promo video.

my friend and i threw together a 6 minute video using imovie (since we were at school at the time, and werent confident enough with final cut in such a short time period. we needed it for the night of, because our sponsorship dinner was then and our robot at the time had just stripped agear and was almost non functional, (in the end we put a temporary brass one on)

we used bittersweet symphony by the verve for the build elements and it had an interesting effect because of the silenced background and it was actually quite nice. we relied on a bit of moby for the robot movement, so just dont think you need only techno or hard stuff =)

we are in the process of getting this video onto our website.

Oh this is a no brainer -

Take the Music from Addicted to Love - Robert Palmer - And substitue the
the Lyrics "Addicted to First" Which I posted somewhere on this forum.

I can just see four robots dancing to the beat, swaying back and forth....

"You Used to think Math and Science were tough .... oh yeah.
Now you know that you can't get enough,
Well you better just face it:

You're addicted to FIRST!"

Segue to People on Segways swaying back and forth...

Repeat the chorus...

You took the words right out of my mouth! Very good song for clip reel. It's available on iTunes Music Store too. :)

Go(Rainforest Mix)- Moby
Rumble-Apollo 440

For last years competition you could use Static X's Push It.

If you are making something just for your team, there shouldn't be a big issue with the copyright of the song, but if you are sticking it on your webpage, or showing it all over the place, you will probaly want to get permission.

Well, right now I'm creating a 'testing of Sparky 5' video, so that'll be up latter this week. The song on it will be the T3 theme as done by Blue Man Group.

You know what would be awesome, and supar powerful? If you played that one awesome Green Day song (Green Day rox0rs!) where they get all serious about how, the road is long, and I hope you had a great time. I can't remember what it's called, but they played it at my high school's graduation, and it was, like, sooooo powerful.

I just finished our pre-competition DVD, and somehow picked awesome songs for the image slideshows(i didn't listen to them before I put them on it):
Megalomaniac
Faint
Somewhere I belong
Better living through Chemistry
...

Any rock song will do.

If it is specific to this year, stairway to heaven is the way to go...

Although i've used greenday, the distance, matrix soundtracks, and a few of these others for backgrounds too. Try "The Rock" soundtrack, we used that on our lego competition videos and it works well.

Thought this might apply, just wrote this to a team mate who is working on our team's video. Here is what I said in regards to music:

Here is my collection of music. Think it might be useful. There is a pretty wide variety of types, so just gotta figure out the mood intended, and the audience. Here’s my recommendations:

Informative, but catching:
Dive – Propellerheads
Percussion – Blue Man Group

Catching and cool sounding, theme related:
Backseat Driver – Propellerheads (Yes, this is from a chase scene in a James Bond movie, but just think of the cool technology they had! It’s like some wacky subconscious comparison.)
Spybreak! – Propellerheads (Yep, Matrix scene music. It’s the part when they break into the building and do lots of cool flips while shooting at the agents, and it sounds cool.)

Off to a slow start, but builds up. Sorta creates interest:
Clang – Propellerheads

Fast and crazy all the way through:
Lethal Cut – Propellerheads (Good for fast paced, continuing film, ends abruptly though.)
Bomb the Bass! – Propellerheads

Kinda evil sounding:
Tension – Blue Man Group

Slow, not all to amazing for this, but good for calm stuff, or talking over, etc.:
TV Song – Blue Man Group
Utne Wire Man – Blue Man Group

Good to know your Blue Man fan, but I don't think they releaed a song named Percussion.
 What Album are you thinking about?

Here is the link to their version of the T3 theme that I'm using.

Hmm...good question. That's the fun of having music that came from someone that got music from someone from who knows where.

So, I think the song is almost identical to another. Ah, here it is. Percussion is the shorter version of "Rods and Cones".

Sorry for the confusion. :ahh:

need i say MR. ROBOTO by Styx!?!? lol
But seriously i'd have to agree with "who needs sleep" by barenaked ladies, or their song "one week", it's up beat to
I'm also partial to most songs by Queen, i'm sure they would have something that fits.
