There will be no official FIRST party in LA. However, the San Diego Region Robotics Forum is hosting a FIRST team party at City Walk, Universal Studios on Friday night, March 26th from 7pm-???. We invite all FIRST teams to come and get to know each other! There will be more information available at the Southern California Regional next week.

While I haven't actually been to Universal City Walk, I'm assuming it's outside. Given that I saw this morning that they're (yes, the mysterious they) are calling for rain, is there any backup plan?

I suspect hosting it means they have a place inside

however I just called and left a msg asking, and I'll let you know.

"THEY" (weather.com) are now predicting "mostly cloudy" with 10% chance of rain on Friday. I don't know how that translates into real weather in other parts of the country, but given my experience with Southern California weather, that means that if it does rain, it will most likely be very light. (So light, even, that someone from your part of the country probably wouldn't even bother with an umbrella.)

City Walk is all outdoor. There are restaurants, stores, and an arcade and bowling alley which of course have insides themselves - no outdoor bowling or anything like that.

EDIT: If anyone has questions about what City Walk is or what is there, I have been many times so I can tell you. One think to be warned about is that parking for cars is like $8 each and it's even more for vans and busses.

Actually, my "they" was channel 5 news yesterday morning. I'll make the assumption that they've changed their minds too. It's not like Rochester where you can just assume it's going to snow...

Dave,

I think we need a "curmudgeon" picture together. (That's what curmudgeons look like, don't they?)
