The sox haven't gone to World series in about 80 years, They lost to Yank's last post-season and will prolly lose in every other one.

I prefer the team that nobody hates....the Chicago Cubs....team of the future and the future is now! wooo! honestly, is there a group of people that actually hate the Cubs?

But between the 2 id pick the Sox because the Yankees are just the Microsoft of baseball...they make huge strides but are full of problems and their business tactics are usually tactless...but im not a sox fan either

Its really a lesser of the two evils here...so I guess I pick the Red Sox

SF Giants for me... Can't resist those garlic fries. :D

But between the two, Yankees are evil (Dodgers too). So then I'd go for Red Sox.

*runs off and cries* :-)

Ok ok so there's more red sox fans over yankees. I'll get even with ya. Those who come to see a Sox vs, Yankees game will be charged extra for Subway Transportation after the game j/k.

When those home games come around I'll be watching for all of you. Just look for me in a Neon Vest with Retro-Reflective Stripes on.

:)

and I wouldn't be suprised if the yanks do win those games but even with the most expensive players they have strange things will still occur.

Eh, it's been done before. (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22194)

Just let me point out one thing: Pedro, Shilling, Lowe, and then a nasty knuckleballer to follow. Do the math.

Remember people, many things this world inhale audibly; that's just life. Only two things in this world suck: set-screws and the Yankees. Oh, and add the Fox Network to that list. ;)

Well, I'm from Detroit and I've really learned to love our abominable excuse for a baseball team, although they should be above par this year at worst. However, I despise the Yankees with a burning passion, I think most of Detroit does... In fact, I do believe most of the world hates the Yankees.

That about sums it up...
a buncha fanatic new england fans all get together each year to watch their team lose.

Someday... they'll learn.

Could be worse. We could be Cubs fans. At least we New Englanders know we're going to lose (at least until 2018 when we do actually win it). Cubs fans actually expect to win.

Eddie, I'm dissapointed in you. The Sox were dead even with the Yankees last year, and IMO, have upgraded more than they have. Boston needed a starter(Schilling), a good defensive second baseman(Pokey Reese), and a competent manager (Terry Francona's done some good things, i.e. swapping Manny/Nomar, Mueller batting second, etc.) I'm very optimistic about our chances this year, especially since NY hasn't upgraded as much as people thing they have.

Cubs have an awesome team this year. ESPN's top analysts even favor them. Trust me in this, when the Cubs win the World Series this year I'll be in Wrigleyville flipping cars and rioting. :D

I'm a Red Sox fan myself. Now I've met a lot of Yankees fans, and I don't want to say that Yankees fans are superficial, but I doubt many of them would still be fans if tehy went almost 100 years without winning a World Series

Neither...I like my Tigers. :)

I'm as surprised as anyone that they've starterd with a 4-1 record, but I'm definitely not complaining. This year is looking much better than the last few...

To answer this thread's question, I dislike both the Yankees and the Red Sox and wish that was a choice (the Mariner's fan probably does too). Some of my favorite players have been traded to both teams so I have some connection with both. Regarding the posts in this thread, please do not make yourself look dumb by posting meaningless shouts for a team without perhaps giving at least one sentence that says why they're better in your opinion or just straight-out facts regarding the team's history. Saying "YANKEES SUCK!!!" or "BOSTON WILL NEVER WIN!!!!!" just gets old and lacks the sportsmanship which Little League tries to teach all of us.

Judge not lest you be judged.
Do you go to the stadiums and judge the illogical hatred of the Yankee or Red SOx fan or the Packers or Bears fan or any other rivalry and expect a valid reason?
Whatever a fan chooses to express their dislike their hatred for a team is their business. It certainly doesn't justfy the bloody red rep your giving out. You are no more an authority on what justifys a good post here or not. Especially in chit-chat.

Out of the two choices, I would have to say I would like to see the Red Sox win this year, because I think the whole Curse of the Bambino makes them a loveable underdog, and who dosen't want to see the underdog win? Although if there were more choices, I would stick with my buddy Crash852 and pick my hometown Mairiners.

Im sure some people here read Sports Illustrated regularly.

In each issues, they feature a certain state, and take sports related polls within it. In almost every single state, the #1 or #2 most hated opponent is either the New York Yankees, or George Steinbrenner.

I can't stand the Yankees, so Im going with the Red Sox.

Did you know:

The Yankees payroll, if dispersed among all of the current FIRST teams, would provide around $180,000.00 per team.

well i <3 the sox for life... BUT... i was in tampa this past weekend with my family to visit some relatives and to go to Busch Gardens (i love montu!!!) and saw the friday night (if you watched the game can you tell me if you saw a bright green sign that said "we came from RI to see Rocco") game against baltimore that went into the 10th and the D-Rays pulled out the victory!!! and they swept the series against the orioles... its going to be between the Sox, Yanks, and Rays... 2 of these 3 teams will make it to the playoff's (1 eastern division champ, the other Wildcard) gaurenteed!!!

Yankees all the way! Since I live in CT, the rivalry is pretty bitter here. I'd say its about half and half in our town, but I side with the Yankees.

No but then again I like to poke fun at it. Hehe. I never quite understood why anyone would get so worked up about a silly sport. It is the same mentaility with the Linux and Windows debate. People just become to devote.

If you polled every basebal fan with this question there is no way the Yankees would win. Unless you are a Yankees fan, chances are you hate the Yankees with a passion. There are way more of these Yankee-haters than Yankee fans.

Rememer the whole "Contraction" controversy a couple years ago? I was in favor of contracting the Yankees. Before you think "that's stupid", think about it. The reason for contraction was: the talent pool is too thin for all the teams. Well, the talent pool would be just fine without a giant Talent Black Hole in the Bronx. So I say:

CONTRACT THE YANKEES!

Also, I never respected Mark Prior more than when I heard he turned down a million-dollar contract from the Yankees right out of high school to go to USC. Young atheletes should learn from him.

there is a reason why i don't like these posts.

one, they single out two teams, and not the entire league.

two, people slam other peoples ideals for liking one team over another, it's like we are still in second grade arguing over who's backpack is better.

three, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, your opinion is as good as mine, and thats it... no need to dish out negative rep points to someone who has an opinion.

ok...enough with my rant, i want to pass along my vote/thought about the two teams who were brought forward.
Being i live an hour north of boston, im a die-hard, born and raised Red-sox-ian. If you look at the strenghs that Boston has aqquired, then you will definatly realize the potential. i mean 11-6 (redsox) 9-9 (yankees) i mean c'mon, the stats show who has the better team.

I would like to thank Mr. Steinbrenner for drafting an egotistical player who demands too much money, to play on a team who is losing :) thanks!

So all-in-all, Red Sox have my vote.

Definitely the Red Sox. They have an awesome offense that may put up just as many runs this year as they did last year. Coupled with a pitching staff that is far superior to the Yankees, and to the rest of the league for that matter, I see the Sox doing very well this year. And besides, it's so easy to like a team, such as those Yankees, that wins all the time. ;)

Go Sox!! (Tonight begins the series back in N.Y., can we all say sweep!! :D )
