If a computer is on, no matter where i am, it at least has 1 window dedicated to the CD site!

I've actually put something into place to track how long people have been on the site.

Some of the numbers are ... disturbing ........ Ken ... :) j/k

ACTUALLY reading it, probably 3-4 hours. Now how long the page is open, that's a lot! I'm curious how often I'm on too.

Any reasons not to un-behind-the-scene it?

Yes, though, i would like to know my hourley time spent here, if you can desplay them!

2 reasons, really

1) im not sure it 100% works. I wrote it, and then abandoned it because of work/school/lack of interest..

2) i dont want people leaving a browser open, hitting refresh every 10 minutes to get their 'online time' to be higher... that wastes alot of bandwidth.

1) I'm sure that it just has some 'design features' :)

2) Didn't think aobut that, but concur.

I have just started looking at everthing here recently, so it make take a while before I spend less time. Or maybe I will just start spending more time after a few days.

Well I toyed with posting in here for a while and decided to go ahead. I read and think about what I'm going to post before I post it. I tend to read all of the threads before I post but then there are new posts when i go back so i just read the ones in that particular thread. Then when I am done with doing that i go to the tigerbolt chat and look back on here later. I can spend hours or minutes on here, I never know but apparently now Brandon does....

since I started logging online-time...

7days 23hours 16minutes 38seconds
which is near average

there are a few with 40some days
there are some with 4-15 days
there are a lot with 0-4 days.

My dad makes me turn off the computer at night. he says soemthing about 'network security'. :(
Same thing with hosting. I want to share the pictures of my teams robot!!! /rant
Whats the use of an always on connectiuon if you turn it off?
Oh and is that 40 days continualsy? If so, the must not be running Windows....

Its been a while since I looked at the code, but no .. thats not 47 days continuously...

It approximates how long you've been on by your session data.
Every time you click a link on the site, it records it in the database temporarily (for use in the 'Current Online Users' page).

I just added to this data ... when your session is started, it keeps track of the time, and then when the session is deleted or the user logs out, it calculates how old that session is and adds the info to the users 'online time' field.

Not sure how accurate this is. It was something I whipped up real quick one night..

Would there be a way to track ACTIVE use? I mean 47 days could be "I left the computer on for 47 days"

It is a government conspiracy. Hey Brandon how much did the government pay you to install your own little version of big brother. :D :D :D

I can assure you the people at the top with 20-47days of use are also atop the 'top posters' list.

Now, might the "top posters" list kinda curve? It was crazy there for a while, but now it's a bit calmer....I've still maintained my 6 a day....quite sad...

Those three months or so of no posting killed my average...
I would be somewhat frightend of where it would be without that extra 90 days or so of no posting...

I'm on CD every day. I go to it in the morning to see what was posted at night and go to in at work to see what's posted during the day. I have no life :D
