Possible fundraiser for Team 116? [Archive]

Like most FIRST teams, team 116 is always trying to come up with new ways to raise money. Our latest idea was something I wanted to run by you first to sort of see what kind of interest there would be... While reading through the thread about who people would like to meet at Nationals, I noticed almost everyone said Dave Lavery. Therefore, on behalf of team 116, I would like to see how many people would be interested in a Dave calendar...

I guess it's only fair that I give you some samples:

May (http://www.factorfantasy.com/Photos/May.jpg) ahhh... Cinco de Mayo... it's fun, it's festive...

July (http://www.factorfantasy.com/Photos/July.jpg) the good ol' red, white and blue... good colors for Dave, no?

March (http://www.factorfantasy.com/Photos/March.jpg) in honor of the anniversary of the first Dave says "That's Pimp!" button, March is a particular favorite of mine.

Of course, we still have to get Dave's agreement on this calendar... do you think he'll say yes? For those few of you who worry about my safety, rest assured, I'll be safely out of town this weekend.

A calendar is a great idea! You could do a "Memorable Moments in FIRST" calendar or "Inspirational FIRST People" (Dave, Dean, Woodie).

(I leave the pits for a second, and by the time I come back, who should have signed a message on our robot but Mr. Lavery? Oh well, it caused us to win the Imagery award at SC!)

I haven't checked a calendar yet to see if Easter is even in April next year, so I have a back-up, just in case:

I personally wanted to do a "Hunks of 710" calendar (with speedos and the whole bit) a while back, but your idea is definately a lot more... kosher. Plus, I'm sure more people would pay to see Dave in a bunny suit than Stud Man Dan in a speedo... ;)

I'd definitely buy one...but I dont know how much money you plan on making off of this, seeing as though the market is active FIRSTers (aka ones who like to make fun of Dave on a regular basis, not the people who know Dave as the guy standing next to Dean and Woodie) and people at NASA (and maybe some people who watch the Amazing Dave Cam). Plus, you can't sell at events, so it would have to be online sales.

But I love it :)

I totally dig Dave Lavery (a man with near god-like status in the FIRST community) wearing a PINK bunny suit. It would be nice to top it off with either one of our famous, "THINK PINK" pins, or "Real Men Wear PINK!" Sexy.... kinda. ;)

Definately a good idea. Up to 22 months for pictures (http://www.space.com/news/mars_minute_991202.html) (potentially). More pictures will make more demand!

Im not sure for what month yet, but perhaps Dave in a kilt, or even better a skirt. And it started to go wrong long before the cardboard car....but that certainly accelerated things....
ooh, Dez250 gave me a good idea. Auction off a dinner with dave....
the dinner would be at nats or a regional hes at next year...

Will! It was never my intention to humiliate Dave... tease, taunt and torment (just a little) maybe, but not humiliate. So many people just adore Dave, and so I figured a calendar of Dave celebrating various holidays and seasons and what not, would bring a smile to everyones face, kind of like a They Might Be Giants Song.

And for the rest of you... what's with this perverse desire to see Dave in a skirt? Et tu, Lil' Lavery? Well, I did decide to go for the Scottish theme for September (http://www.factorfantasy.com/Photos/September.jpg) since that is the month I went to Scotland...

I asked him how he got our kilt, and he said that "Melissa" gave it to him. What I heard later was that a group of females surrounded one of our mentors, Pit Boss Lou, and asked if they could have his kilt. Next thing you saw was the tool belt flying and the kilt being taken away..... but he was wearing shorts underneath.

This was meant as an idea for team 116, seeing that Dave is an engineer for us. Seeing that it would be a Dave calender would sort of make Dean out of place. But OH MAN...have Dean be santa and make Dave Rudolph!!!!

The adult mentors on RAGE started out thinking we would make a RAGE Robotics calendar as a fundraiser, but ended up making a RAGE Ro-buttocks calendar for our Team Leader instead!

We secretly snapped photos of the mentors from behind at team events. We cropped out identifying heads, and it was funny to see how many people could still recognize each other!

Oh no, a co-worker just pointed out that because of the turkey head peering over his head, it kind of looks like Dave's face is where the turkey's backside should be. :eek: I pointed out the wings to her, but she still insists she sees what she sees. Now keep in mind that my co-worker is a vile, perverted creature who distorts everything good to suit her own twisted needs (other than that, she's a really nice person), but does anyone else agree with her?
