Ya I am on right now to I think the network is called fastpass or something like that it is pretty fast.

I'm on too, the conection is working at 5.5 mbps for me, but it seems to change, somehow. The SSID is 0007859257000, if that will help anyone.

I was on earlier but I couldn't get a strong signal. Where in the Dome are you? Let me know if you guys find a good spot to get a strong signal because I keep losing mine over in front of Curie field. Thanx

I'm in the Georgia Dome right know! Love the wireless!
i'm getting a pretty strong signal in front of galileo
i'm getting a pretty strong signal in front of galileo
thanx, I'll try going over there and see if I can watch curie on the tvs while i use the wireless

I just thought about how wierd it is that I can probably see you from where I am on my laptop in front of curie :D that's cool. Just my thoughts
(P.S.)My pink robot just hung on the bar really fast! w00t!

I am in front of Archimedes right now and have a very good signal.
I am getting a great signal at 11Mbps anywhere around Curie.
Figment - And your robot was awesome at hanging on the bar. I am also on my laptop there.

I just missed you probably, I moved to get a better signal, I'm over between Galileo and Einstein now :D

Is the signal only in the dome? cause i cant get it in the pits
Actually, word on the street has it that there a ton of active networks around the pits. I didnt bring my laptop today so i'm not sure, but I shall tommorow. Needless to say, there are ways of getting wifi there, you may just have to look around a llittle.

O there were tons of wifi's including my teams but i couldnt find one with internet access

I don't know about inside the pits where all the robots actually are, but I know if you take a few escalators up you can get a signal with internet. You don't have to go all the way back to the dome to get a connection. I got one somewhere around the front information desk right before the first escalator to the pits. There is also a cyber cafe two or three floors up from the pit somewhere, but I don't remember exactly where I saw it, didn't have time to actually check it out. I'm going to see if I can mark up one of those event maps with a highlighter as to where you can get the internet because there are so many networks around that you can usually find one to get on, but not all of them have the internet. I'll be around, if you want to find me I'll be down at Curie field in pink(w00t 233) with a laptop.
Looking forward to some great competition tommorrow!

Anyone using any good tool to configure your card for the wireless network?
I'm using the one that came with my card, but I really don't like it.. I'm running Win2k
Is it just mine that drops for about a second every now and then?

The Broadcom connection is great for scanning best signal and it overides windows since it works wit the chip's firmware.

your not the only one that is dropping. what is going on is that since there are many people that are tryin to connect to the wireless network in the dome, so to reduece slow downs and stuff like that there is a max number of users that can be loged on for a certian amount of time and that time is for 15 mins. so when there is a line of people tryin to use the net the wireless network is taking the MAC address of all the computers i nthe dome and putting them in que and after 15min or so it looks for the person that has been on line for a while and kicks them out so others can log in. as far as signal strenght, well it depends on where you are in the dome i guess. the futher you are from the access point the weaker the signal gets. im over in the newton divison all the way up on top and i am getting 44mbps speed over here. if i go down to where my team is all the way in the front i go to a connection speed of 18mbps or something like that. so it gets weaker. so i hope that answers your question. and as far as configuring stuff to get online.....you don't need to configure anything its all done automatically by the wireless access point.

I seem to get 11Mbps anywhere I go and I don't get dropped once the network is up.

My card has a utility for picking a ssid and stuff like that, I was looking for one that can hopefully remember things like the IP addresses I use.. I use DHCP here and static addresses at my house, and it can be a pain switching between them.
Does one even exist that can modify windows IP address settings?

where in the dome are you then cause ever since i went up to the top of the stairs in the newton division i haven't lost signal nor dropped either
i find that a little bit strange!!!

Has anyone tried tracing where the wireless hub/switch is? i'm currently sitting mid way down in front of curie getting a "very low" signal strength. atleast i've got power ( 2 battery backs lasting all day :D ). I didn't have the problem of getting kicked off from being on too long. it was more i wasn't getting a signal? i was linked but either no signal or no received packets.
I was thinking of ping sweeping.
