No, I'm not talking about carts that have injured people, but the carts at nationals. Some of them had stereo systems, or were motor driven, or had pneumatic pieces. I wanted to start this forum to have people show photos of their awesome carts.

I am still waiting to see a trailer hitch attachment to a Segway, Dean! :D

best cart, imo, belongs to 94 technojays.. by far.. there were alot of carts that had pumped up bass and sound systems, but 94 was awesome with a mini pick up truck and a place for the driver in it as well.

I believe the carts were to be added to the crate picture gallery.

I also remembered this thread mentioning photos of carts and to add them to the crate gallery http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26233&page=3
Photos should at least be uploaded to the "Extra Discussion Forum" and not the "General Forum".

Yah, we gave them our "Best Cart" Award. Was it 1305 that had the cool diamond-plated forklift? That was cool too! I also think that the cart with blue light, stereo with nice bass and DVD was awesome and it sounded nice (what # were they)?

That was ours (548)! Thanks for the compliments. Saturday evening after the team party(we couldn't afford to go...) we took the cart out to the park, near the fountains, and had a dance party until the park closed. Then we took it back, and continued the party outside our hotel. Several teams showed up there, including 71(the winners), and we had a great time there, until the cops shut us down for being too loud...

Teams in Michigan, we are considering renting the cart out for graduation parties, etc... contact me at joshjv@yahoo.com if you are interested.

Our team is already talking about our next year's cart. We plan on having spinners, etc. Too bad we won't actually do it.

Our cart was awesome this year, i dont have any pictures but it was basically the most macked out radio flyer ever. 300 watt stereo, orange and blue flames and just worked awesome for transporting the bot, i have had alot of crappy carts and this is def the best just as a cart, then it had added stuff on, next year we will work on it for more than a Day so it will even be MORE macked out.

More info about our cart...
This is taken from the flyer we were passing out at Nationals, though it doesn't look as good here...

So thats who it was who had the mini pick-up/semi. I was wondering who it was for the whole week. I first saw it out of the corner of my eye when I was watching a match. That was the koolest cart in my opinion.

175 BUZZ had a beautiful cart. I dunno if there are pictures of it, but it was extremely well built and functional. No sound systems or anything but it epitomized to me what the perfect robot cart would be. With a scissor lift, cabinets, duel pneumatic castors, shelves, really nice paint and graphics. If there were money to be made in this competition, I bet a cart like that would go for 15-20k. (and a great bot to go with it)

Oh yah! I love the look of diamond plate and blue light. This year our team tried to make a cool shipping crate that unfolded into our pit are (with drawers, neon light, diamond playe, strobe light and stereo). Our cart was possibly the worst one there (a green garden cart). We are plannig on making a pimped out cart for next year.

A garden cart would have been a dream cart for us last year, we had a piece of plywood and 2x4's with four caster wheels pulled by a piece of rope. All the casters spun so it was impossible to steer.
Good luck with your pimp cart!

my team got money to build two solar powered go karts so one of them is gonna be for our robot. we may make it look like a pickup of some sort.

I didn't see many of the really cool carts, my team didn't even have one. Threw my back out a couple of times carrying the bot around for all of competition.

Thursday at Palmetto, 1293 was cartless.

But for Friday and Saturday, we had this old little red wagon. With 1293 stickers, of course.

And it did the job. Although I still think that some of the team members wanted to put spinners on it.

Yeah, the 548 cart was awesome. I want to build the "Concepts" cart. It looks like a steam engine (remember Purdue), but has 4 wheel crab drive, 3 car batteries, can go up stairs (better than the I Bot), and has an awesome stereo system.

THATS AWESOME!!! we hardly have money to go to competitions. i'd love to do something like that, but its impossible.

That mini-truck was beautiful! I really wanted a ride on it, but I may have missed my chance. I'm not sure. We just had a plain red metal cart with 3 levels. We kept tethers on the bottom, the control box and some tools on the middle and the robot sat on the top. It really didn't like that lip at the door going towards the tunnel from the pits at Nat's. I would have to lift it over while the guys either tipped the robot to get it under the doorway or lift it off completely while I got around them or through. It wasn't graceful, but it got the job done. I can't imagine having to carry it from the pits to Archimedes, especially on Friday. We had five matches, I believe!

Well, well, well; I have to say that is one of the most elaborate entertainment systems I ever saw on a cart (is that a DVD player?). Yet I have to disagree with omutton, because our team had to borrow a five-year-old grey blob on wheels from our school janitor, and we had to pay for it if we broke it (and we didn't). Anyway, keep building those awsome pieces of machinery... and maybe some robots while you are at it!

jjv

indeed a dvd player...
there is a PS2 hidden inside the cart

we actually started building this the day after our robot shipped after the build, and had it mostly done by Great Lakes.

Our robot did quite well, though unfortunatly we had some alliances that didn't help us out much...

That is unbeliveably awesome! Do you mind If our team "borrows" your cart next year, if your team is planning on building a new one? :D

hey zzyzx, i don't know about the coolest cart, but my team probably has the plainest cart! it is our "lucky dolly" from 2000 when we won the nationals. it is basically 4 pieces of wood on 4 wheels, but we will use nothing else! it has become a team 25 tradition

We did; it was a piece of PVC w/ a nail through it that went into a small eye hook. We took it off because it caused the cart to swing and hit people in the pits.

hm. our cart is pretty cool. no stereos on it, i thought FIRST banned those last year. maybe i misheard. we've had our cart for about 5 years. it doubles as out crate, which is convinent because the bottom is used to carry everything we need for matches (new batteries, air compresser, etc..) and the robot sits on top. when it's ready to ship off, we just put the aluminum lid on top and put our tool kits in the bottom storage area and it's ready to go. I'll try to get a pic up some time.

No, you heard correctly, it was just very rarely enforced. Really I don't see the need to have a DVD player and PS2 in a cart... Neon lights, ok, stereo, maybe - I think people need to start putting things on carts that would actually be useful - I saw team 1011's (Crush) cart, and it was driveable using the previous year's drive I think.

However, IMO, Truck Town will always have the best cart... those trucks they drive in are just so cool

I have two observation about the cart phenomena...

One - It is just plain SAD when teams spend more time on/have a much nicer cart than robot.

Two - I've long felt that FIRST should give out an award for the best cart possibly let the students vote on it. It's kind of like the web page was in the early days a lot of students worked really hard on them and got no recognition.

there arnt necesarrily regulations against stereos on carts, just the fact of blasting your stereos on your cart. My team, 1251, had a nice little summer project of cart building, all individually funded from the members. we were a little obsessive on it, since the audio totals about 2200 watts, we have a dvd player and 2 lcd screens , basically, the cart shouldnt be your primary goal, just a nice offseason project since last i remember, you couldnt work on robot parts during that time frame. :p but as long as you remember that the team next to you doesnt want to hear your music like their at a concert. tone it down, and stereos will be ok
