I got a question. Do you need volunteers? I may end up going and will help with field reset if it calls for.. Or anything, but I have done field reset at the NYC regional this year.. so.. ya know. Drop me a PM or whatever.

Hope to see you there.

Scott Shaw 237

I would also like to help do field reset if you need it. i have no volunteering experience yet, and I would like to start at Ramp Riot. Please give me a pm.

Elgin & Scott:

You definitely are welcome to come to Ramp Riot, to help or just show up for fun.
We can always use experienced people like yourselves. You could help with the field, pit admin., Referee, tech assistance to teams. We also build the field on Friday. Any job you want to do is fine with us.

We usually have a good number of volunteers, so that you wouldn't have to work all day unless you want too.

Just let me know what you want to do by email. aostrow1@comcast.net

Thanks for asking, we really appreciate the offer.

To All Ramp Riot Teams:

A few Updates below:

1) In general FIRST Frenzy Rules will apply. Some modifications may be sent in a future update. All size/weight requirements and inspection items will rely on your gracious professionalism. We reserve the right to require a machine modification for safety reasons. Selections will be allowed within the top 8. All teams will make the playoffs. The bottom 4 teams will be assigned to an alliance. The alliance does not have to play a 4th partner. These "back up" teams would be used only if the alliance captain chooses to do so.

2) Please encourage people from your area to attend Ramp Riot. If your school is within convenient driving distance to the event, this is a tremendous opportunity to promote your team. Take advantage of this event. INVITE YOUR SPONSORS and SUPPORTERS! Think of this as your only home game and a chance for people you know to see you in action.!!! We would especially urge you to encourage your elementary school kids to join us. They will love it.

3) We encourage you to participate in the Team Basket Raffle and Canned Food Drive charity efforts. It makes the day that much more meaningful for everyone.

4) We will have a live band at lunch time so there will be no special rounds this year. If for some reason the band cancels, we may conduct a simple shooting contest at lunch.

Attention all teams attending Ramp Riot 2004!

This year we are planning to have an even better opening video than last year! :D Please send pictures of your robot to me at disaac341@gmail.com if you would like your team included in the video. I have tried to find pictures on my own but I have found that not many teams keep updated websites in the off-season. Thanks in advance to all teams attending. Let's rock out at Ramp Riot before FIRST announces the 2005 game!

From Penn to Wissahickon H.S. would be about a 45 minute drive, depending on traffic.. you could always take the train down to Ambler- and believe me, it's well worth it, the last competition in our area until spring 2005..

cant wait..

The RAGE crew will have a total of 12 people, 9 kids, 3 adults. A small but sturdy crew of members will attempt to best represent the team, have fun and kick booty! I can't complain of getting out of school a tad bit early!!:D

Hey Teams:

Here are a few ways to make Ramp Riot even better.

1) Send those team pictures for the opening video. We want this day to be about YOU, not just Team 341.

2) Please participate in our canned food drive and basket raffles. Food goes to a local cupboard and the basket raffle $ goes to Juvenile Diabetes Research. The team that brings the most cans wins a trophy!

3) When you see Mike Wade and Pete Baltzell of NASA on Saturday, give them a big hug!! They bring and operate the field. Without them Ramp Riot would not be possible!

4) This is your last chance to dance before build season. Bring your SPIRIT, your banners, your left over team buttons. Lets play this thing like a regional!

I will be sending the event schedule shortly!

thanks!

Hey, I'm trying to get a little Robot Showcase going on at Ramp Riot, which would give spectators/little kids a chance to look at the technical aspects of robots. I was wondering if any teams would be able to bring an extra retired robot with them to be placed in our hallway for the day. It wouldn't get turned on or anything, just kinda gawked at. I think it would be really cool if we had a bunch of great robots to show people, and explain what they all meant. I know that at North Brunswick Eruption they had a similar thing, so hey, if you want to bring any robots along with you, Raider Robotix (like Cradle Robber!) that'd be awesome! Anyway, we'd love it if you could, but either way, be ready for an awesome, fun competition.

Thanks!

Well, things are looking pretty good. We have the pit set up and wired. The field was delivered and everyone is fired up.
Field construction in the AM, decoration in the PM. We should be driving on the field by 2:00 PM or so.

Dave has put together an incredible opening video which includes every participating team and a time lapse of the field being built.

We have a live band at lunch and Y-100 giving out prizes.

But most importantly we have some of the best teams on the East Coast coming out to play!!

We can't wait for Saturday!!!

Wow, it really was a great competition yesterday. Some of the best Mid-Atlantic teams out there. It was really odd though, normal favorites like 222 and 303 took some early falls and just never seemed to recover, while some of the smaller unknown teams finally stepped up and won something big.
Thanks to daisy for holding a great event, and the amazing fights in semi's. You guys are such a great robot this year.
Thanks to 484 and 87 aswell for helping us bring home another nice big trophy :D .

Great times, except the whole getting pinned down by three teams and getting written on with sharpie.

I had so much fun at Ramp Riot it was unbelievable. I couldn't get over how well the event was run from all angles. Ramp Riot from start to finish was cool, awesome and it was like attending a regional competition. To Miss Daisy (Team 341) and others who made Ramp Riot possible you did a wonderful job. The radio station that was there Y-100 was spectacular. To all the teams that attended, great job. It was worth the trip even though it took RAGE 6 plus hours to get down there because traffic and weather wasn't pretty. I can't wait to see the wonderful teams that was at this event in the Chesapeake Regional. Oh by the way we got home in 4 hours!

I would also like to congratulate Miss Daisy on hosting an awesome mini comp. While I went 6 hours both ways and my team wasn't there, I had an AWESOME time doing field reset, ref, and anything else. Congratulations to 484, 25, and 87. Awesome job to one and all.

Oh yeah! I forgot about our i-Pod Raffle winner!

It was Mr. Sheffield, a coach for Team 487, Springfield HS!

Congratulations!

If anyone has pictures that they could post, there is a CheifDelphi Upload Folder for Ramp Riot.

Go to Picture Galleries-->Off-Season Competitions---->2004---->Ramp Riot.
Then you can upload your pictures. We would love to see the competition from your perspective. Thanks!

P.S.
Thank you for all of the nice comments about Ramp Riot 2004! Our goal every year is to make it feel like a regional, so that rookies will be inspired to stay on their teams!

While I drove 4 hours both ways....
re: Slept for 2 hours and navigated and talked and complained about my driving for 6.

Who drove Scott?? I did!! lol
Snow, cold, stupid speed control stop signs :p
(Quote from the back seat: I think we got some air off that one. :ahh: )

All in all, I had a great time.
I would like to thank Al, and the crew at Ramp Riot for holding what I think is the last competition in the area till after kickoff.

And remember, don't forget that hint of next year's game we were told about.
The hint that is going to be given to us at kickoff. :p

I know I'll be watching kickoff anxiously waiting for that hint about next years game.

That hint was arguably better than any of Dave's hints. ;)

Ramp Riot Riot V.. what can I say? I've seen them all-

R.R. I- 7 teams. No audience at all. I don't think there was even a DJ- at the time there were almost NO offseason competitions at all
R.R. II- 16 teams?
R.R. III- 24
R.R. IV- 25
R.R. V- 26 (we're trying to get O to let us use the 2nd gym next year- think 2 divisions :P)

Overall, there were more people on saturday than I could've imagined, all of the stands were packed, about a hundred people decided to bust some moves during the afternoon, and we all just had a great time. Thanks to everyone who came and contributed, we couldn't pull this off without yall..

Is there any chance of getting the opening video? I woke up four hours late (after having only 4 hours of sleep the previous 72 hours) and missed it.

I'd suggest you send a PM to GoDaisy341- he's the media guy and can probably send you the videos-

It is taking me some time to recover from the event and I only have a second to write. But I just wanted to congratulate not only the award winners from Ramp Riot, but all of the teams that participated.

One of our major goals for Ramp Riot each year is to make it "feel" like a regional for the benefit of the Rookies.

That can't happen unless you have 26 teams show up ready to play hard, with spirit, all day long!

We have a core group of Ramp Riot teams that will go anywhere and play anytime. You are what I always call "GAMERS". It is this group of "GAMERS" which makes Ramp Riot the place to be each November.

So thank you to all of the Ramp Riot teams!! Whether you won or lost on Saturday you surely inspired a lot of Rookies, including those on 341.

Best of luck during the upcoming season.
